i grabbed my black school bag and followed behind mattia out of his room. he jogged downstairs as i followed. his mom was sitting on the leather maroon couch in the living room, contently scrolling through her phone. mattia held out his hand and i gently put my hand in his. he guided me through the living room, walking somewhat fast as he tried to avoid his mother. nonetheless, his mom still spoke up

"where are you going"

mattia rolled his eyes and turned around to face his mom, letting go of my hand. i awkwardly stood next to him.

m: "school"

m/m: "oh, like i believe that"

m/m: "whatever, i don't even care. is that your b-"

m: "no, mom" mattia rolled his eyes and his mom scoffed in response.

m/m: "you disgust me, you know that?" mattia just gently grabbed my hand once again and lead me to the front door. he opened it, allowing me to walk out first. his mom muttered under her breath but loud enough for both of us to hear

m/m: "just don't come home next time"

m/m:  "it's better for both me and your father." mattia was about to say something back but just walked out the house, closing the door behind us.

k: "you're not gonna say anything?"

m: "she always wins."

m: "plus, i was going to.."

k: "but?"

m: "but i remembered you have hella bad anxiety, so i
didn't wanna start yelling and make you anxious."
