They say that lightning never strikes the same place twice,
And perhaps they were right for just a time.
I never thought that I'd fall for your tricks,
But you blinded me once more with your charms.
They say that broken mirrors bring bad luck for seven years,
And maybe they were the ones most worried.
I never heard anything about broken faces,
But you walked around with your bruised nose for weeks.
They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
And perhaps they forgot to mention its deception.
I never believed that you would be rotten at the core,
But you proved me wrong beyond all belief.
They say that the boat shouldn't be rocked,
And maybe they were referring only to sailing.
I never imagined that my opinions would bring you offense,
But you turned purple every time I mentioned politics.
They say good things come to those who wait,
And perhaps they have experienced it themselves.
I never tried to be the pathetic one looking for you,
But you stood out too much from the crowd.
They never say that one should always have their running shoes ready,
But maybe they should add that to their repertoire.
I cast your slimy self into my past where you belonged,
And for once, you forgot to come crawling back.
