Baby steps

Lucy groaned when her arm hit the alarm clock next to her bed.
"Lucy wake up you are going to be late!" Lorcan yelled from downstairs, and Lucy sat up on her bed, her eyebrows crossed.
Usually it was Luke who woke her up, why was it Lorcan today?"
The blonde girl quickly put on few clothes, did not bother with grabbing a bag and sprinted downstairs.
Her heartbeat slowly decreased as she saw her younger brother stuffing his face with a jam donut.
"Want a ride?" Lorcan asked, his back turned to Lucy.
Well asked is not the right word. Better like muttered under his breath.
"I'm fine." Lucy answered, before kissing Luke on his head and heading out, not bothering to go back up and grab her back pack.
Ever since the fight, Lorcan was acting a bit strange around her. She knew he was not doing that on purpose, Lorcan spent last years making sure that nothing was going to happen to her. No matter what relationship they had before, Lorcan took on the form of the father for his two younger siblings.
If only Lucy wasn't higher than him in the family hierarchy.
Thoughts raced in her head all the way to school.
Her head was so preoccupied, she did not even notice the red head following her, suspicions in her head.
Little did the blondie know, that the owner of the onyx eyes did not tell his Betas anything.
And it drove a certain female Beta crazy, that she did not know anything about what was going on.
So she followed blondie around the school, trying to figure out the feeling she got every time she looked at her.
Erza was hundred percent sure that the feeling she got off Lucy, was the Luna scent.
Her senses were basically screaming it, and Erza learned very soon in her life that she should always trust them. And never doubt them.
Yet she was confused as to why the blondie was evading it so fiercely.
She could not decide what bothered her more, whether it was the fact that Lucy was acting all stubborn or that Natsu refused to say anything.
He always told her everything.
While the red head was lost in the deep thoughts that roamed her head, she failed to notice the presence of a new person.
And boy would she come to regret it.

Lucy closed her locker and leaned against it.
She was trying so hard to avoid him all day. All of them.
But especially him. She told him the truth. She told him she was an Alpha.
Facing him would mean she was facing it head on.
She didn't want to face it head on.
She refused to face it at all.
Lucy ignored the sudden scowling that echoed in her mind, Celestine desperately trying to break through once more.
Should've thought better or waited longer before you chose, she though and once again ignored the bark that echoed back, not even trying to translate it.
She realized a second too late, why was Celestine so on edge.
When the hand fell on the locker next to her head and a very familiar voice whispered in her ear.
"Missed me Lucy?"

Lucy just stood there wide eyed, in the alley she pulled the blue haired boy into.
Well not a boy now.
Being three years older, he was officially considered a man.
"Wow Aqua was right. You really did loose your shape tongue." He said, when the blondie in front of him went on silent.
She cleared her throat before speaking. "What are you doing here Jellal?"
He sighed rubbing the back of his neck. "Wild you believe me if I said that I'm here to help?"
"No."
"Fair enough. And also true, I'm am not here to help you, particularly seeing as I have no interest in such thing. I'm here to warn you, and partially because Aqua made me." He sighed.
"Isn't it a conflict of interest for you? Going against your own Alpha?" She asked, leaning towards the nearby wall.
Jellal looked directly in her eyes. "You were my Alpha once too."
"Was."
He scoffed. "You still are. I haven't seen a pack running behind you these days, a you know that a Wolf without a pack is better off dead. You're still a member of ours, like it or not."
"Maybe I don't need a pack."
"Yeah keep telling yourself that. When was the last time you shifted?" He asked and Lucy glared at him.
"Thought so."
"It's not because of the pack...."
"It's because you are afraid of what she'll do right?" He finished for her, the smug smile playing on his lips as Lucy once again glared at him.
"What did you want to warn me from?" She asked, trying to change the subject.
Jellal picked up on her intentions, the smile doubling, but chose to let it go. "Wraith is getting impatient. With the Ventura breathing down our necks he wants you back. And so does the surest of the pack."
"The Ventura are not my problem."
He scoffed. "They will be once they figure out where have you been hiding all this time. Do you really think that your brothers are safe? That your friends are safe?" He asked her and Lucy averted her gaze.
These thoughts had no place in her head.
"Lucy I'm here because I still hold you in respect as my Alpha. And I have no interest in seeing you head on a stick, that's why I'm warning you from the Ventura. What happens between you and Wraith is no longer my problem, alas I still stand behind my Alpha."
"You stand behind Wraith." Lucy muttered but more so to herself than to the guy in front of her.
"Will somebody explain who the hell this Wraith here is and what the hell is actually happening?" Both of the Wolf's turned around, and faced none other than the Ice Beta.
Gray glared a hole into Jellal's head, as Jellal was a foreign Omega.
"Oh uh." Jellal sighed in a sing-a-song tune and shook his head as if in shame, the small smug smile though told Lucy that he knew very well that Gray was there the whole time.
She glared at him. "You never change do you?!"
"Well, it was actually Mystogan's idea to not alert you of his presence but I won't act like I didn't play along." He shrugged, the Wolf inside him barking in smug laughter.
Jellal and Lucy never got along very well. As Jellal said, his alliance was always with his Alpha, it now being Wraith.
The second Lucy deserted, he stopped being loyal to her.
That did not mean though, that he wanted to see her dead.
And so when his sister pleaded him to go warn her, he went.
Nobody said he wasn't going to have a bit of fun while doing so.
That's why he full on grinned at Lucy who continued to mimic the glared he was getting from Gray.
"It was a pleasure seeing you again Lucy. Whatever you do is your choice, but I want the record to state I went and warned you, the spiky head over there is a witness. Till next time." He chuckled and walked away, without another word.
Lucy sighed and turned to face the Beta in front of her, who could not be more confused.
"Will you start explaining now or should I go get Natsu?"
After a few moments, Lucy sighed.
"How much did you actually hear?"
"Enough to know you are an Alpha, which seems kind of impossible, and to hear about these Ventura, whatever that is."
Lucy gave up. "I am right thinking that you are going to tell everything to Natsu right?"
"Do you want me to lie to my friend?" He raised an eyebrow at her, but something caught Lucy's attention.
He didn't say Alpha.
He said friend.
And trivial as it was, the simple word made Lucy decide to trust him.
At least enough to warn them.
If Jellal was right, then they were all in danger.
Because of her.
Again.
So she gave up her struggles and turned back to him.
"Do you know of a spot we can all meet?"
And when he nodded, she could feel a tiny spark of hope inside her, she knew came from Celestine.
The fighter she fused with, stopped sleeping.
And decided to start napping.
Baby steps right?
