CHAPTER ELEVEN
favoritesnamjoon's training with the elite team started exactly a week later. woken up at four in the morning, a bottle of light blue gatorade had been tossed into his hands as jimin and taehyung dragged him down to the workout gym. there, he found hoseok and jin sparring on top of a large square of blue mats, while yoongi was climbing a rock wall with just his arms. jungkook's left arm was still healing —both the bullet wound and his fractured humerus— and wrapped in a sling, so he sat on a bench by the weights, bicep curling a 20 pound (9.07kg) weight with his right arm.
while jimin jogged over to join yoongi on the ceiling-high rock wall, taehyung grabbed onto namjoon's hand, pulling him over to a pair of yoga mats set up on the floor.
namjoon raised a brow, his groggy, tired mind still yet to fully process what was happening. "are we gonna do yoga?"
taehyung shook his head. "nope, we're just stretching. it's just more fun to do it on yoga mats."
"ah, cool." namjoon stood on a light purple matt and taehyung sat on the one beside him. they were silent as namjoon stretched out his arms and back. taehyung did some figure-fours, butterflies, and planks. when namjoon sat down on the ground to start his own leg stretches, he asked; "so what's you guys' routine? do you all just do your own thing, or...?"
taehyung sat up from his last round of planking, and did a few arm stretches while seated. "kind of. every other day we'll all go on a run together around the grounds and then come back in and play a bit of basketball or something. on days like today, however, we typically take turns sparring. while we wait for our turns, we just do whatever we want. i usually just climb the ropes or work on my flexibility." he finished off with a goofy grin, and let his arms fall to his sides.
namjoon nodded, thinking that was it. but of course, he would not be so lucky.
taehyung continued; "then, every day after breakfast, we go to the shooting range for a bit. we all know how to shoot a gun, of course, but it's good to keep your skills sharp. and there's always room to improve."
namjoon waited a bit more, just in case there was still more. but taehyung said nothing as he stood and bent over completely in half, wrapping his arms around his own thighs.
namjoon looked away, surveying the rest of the room. there were all sorts of workout equipment, from complex ellipticals to simple medicine balls and the yoga mats they were currently using. and were those... pool noodles? namjoon wondered what on earth they would need those for.
namjoon frowned, taking notice that something was missing. "do you guys have any dummies? for sword practice?"
taehyung sprang back up and let his hands rest on his hips. "yup. your dad said you'd probably want one, so we're having one delivered. it should be here either tomorrow or the day after. you can keep it in your room or put it in an empty room — whatever you want."
namjoon smiled, nodding. before he could thank taehyung, a shout came from the center of the room, and all eyes fell upon hoseok and jin.
hoseok had jin pinned down on the blue mats, counting to five as jin struggled to get back up. but they'd fought non-stop for a while, and with both arms pulled behind his back and one of hoseok's knees keeping him pinned, it was hard to do much of anything but kick his legs.
"three... four... five! i win!" hoseok sprang up, fists thrown up in the air victoriously. jin rolled onto his back, breathing heavily. hoseok reached down and grabbed onto his hand, yanking him up onto his feet.
