Pollys stroll through town was more conspicuous than she would have liked, thanks to the heavy bold cutters weighing down her backpack. She attracted a lot of stares from passerby but she ether dead pan stared them or downright glared.

Nevermore flew above her, telepathically telling her which ally to take, and watching for cops. Po had quite a rep with the Police.

The Mall was still under construction, but most of the outer buildings where up already. Po looked at it in disdain, she hated malls. She didn't get excited about makeup and fashion and manicures like the other girls at 'Mocks'. Most all of her clothes where dumpster finds and hand me downs, mostly anything in black. She hated having her hands touched, and she had no money for spending on frivolous things. She and the rest got a weekly allowance of 5 dollars and the orphanage paid for some necessities. The mall also wasn't a pretty place, an ugly white boxy sort of building with no sense of grace, whereas the land it had been built on had been a gorgeous feild, and was one of Po and Liz's favorite places.

It was tricky staying out of sight of the security cams, which where everywhere. But with Nevermore's help she made it to the south side and spotted Elizabeth hiding behind a stack of lumber.

Liz was easy to sneak up on. She's like a child.  But Po immediately abandoned the thought. Liz was not innocent, but she had a gullibility and a purity about her, she was big hearted, and almost soft. Her feelings hurt easily, but she was a bouncer. She bounced back easily. Po had never met someone who got over things so quickly. After the thing had passed, Liz forgot about it. Whenever there was a traumatic circumstance, her shell was quick to crumble. She showed her hurt, mostly in her eyes, when they would lose their sparkle. If someone made fun of her, or called her a name she would be hurt, very hurt, but once the thing had passed she'd smile like the thing hadn't happened, and her eyes would sparkle again. Po admired her best friend. Polly shut everything up. When someone offended her, she wouldn't  show it: but she would walk away replying it in her mind, she'd lay awake and burn it into herself. She had many scars. Liz didn't have scars. Her scars vanished before the day was gone.

Po slipped next to Liz and began taking stock of the scene on the other side of the lumber. Liz jumped a little in surprise and breathed "Po,"

Polly smiled. Yes Liz was easy to surprise. "What's up?"

"New plan. See that compound?" She pointed to a lot surrounded by a tall and probably-electric-fence.

"Yes,"

"We wanna get in there."

"Cool why?"

Liz grinned. "Operation 'Drive a Bulldozer' is under way."

Po grinned back. 'Operation Drive a Bulldozer' was a plan from a year ago, which they'd had to put aside because they couldn't find any convenient bulldozers. Po had always wanted to drive heavy machinery.

"The Cameras..?" Polly asked, knowing Liz had already figured that out.

"That's where Nevermore comes in."

Both girls turned to the black bird, who was perched a plank of wood and busily picking through a MacDonals wrapper.

"Nev?" Po asked.
