*Alex's POV*
I was lying on my floor of the room that James and I shared, staring at the ceiling fan as it whirred above. I stared without reason as the white blades blended together into a fuzzy, vibrating white circle. Allowing my mind to wander, George popped into my mind. I thought about how annoying and rude he was, first. But then my mind sank into the familiar, hormone-fueled pattern, and I found myself swooning over just the mental image of him. I could picture him perfectly in my head, just as he was in the science room earlier today: Adidas tracksuit, subtle freckles, fluffy dirty-blond hair, posh accent.
It was then that James walked in, rolling his eyes at the sight of me on the floor. There was nothing to question in that regard; it was a normal occurrence. He did have another question for me, though:
"Why are you blushing? Correct me if I'm wrong but you're completely alone."
I shrugged best I could while lying down and responded, "Do you know anything about George?"
"George who? There's about fifty of them at our school, mate."
I thought for a moment before saying, "Junior, I think. Curly hair. Barely taller than me."
"Andrews?" James asked.
"That sounds about right," I told him.
There was a beat of silence and then, "He's friends with Josh, I think. Be careful with that kid, he's involved in some bad stuff."
"There's nothing to be careful with," I snapped.
James put his hands up in surrender, falling onto the twin-sized mattress on the floor with a sizable thud. He was staring at his phone, typing. He had never turned off his keyboard sounds. He had originally said that the clicking sounds calmed him down, which may have been true for a time, but I'd bet everything that they're only still on to piss me and Will off. He gets a smirk on his face, the one he always gets when he's about to say something he knows will pis me off. I sigh, already scared of what's coming.
"James what did you do?"
"You a favor, of course," He said laughing. "George is going to be at a party I'm going to tomorrow night. Aria said you're welcome to come along if you'd like."
I wanted to punch James and hug him both at once. On one hand, I hadn't even really said anything about George, and the way he had a way of assuming (and being right) pissed me off. But also, I was getting a chance to see George when he wasn't going to be being a prick in science class. I decided to go with the safe option, pretending to be pissed so that if George totally hated me I wouldn't be so obviously hurt.
"I don't like George if that's what you're implying."
"You sure about that? Because last time I checked, you were lying on the floor blushing just from thinking about him."
I rolled my eyes, standing up and making my way towards our bedroom door. "He embarrassed me earlier, is all."
I had my hand on the doorknob, watching as James raised his eyebrows at me with an amused look on his face. It screamed doubt. James doubted almost everything I said. The worst part was the fact that usually, like now, he had reason to.
I twist the doorknob and begin walking to the kitchen to get a snack. Hopefully eating will calm the nerves in my stomach at the thought of spending time with George.
"I'll go to the party anyway, though," I yell behind me. I hear James laugh as the door closes behind me. I'm grateful that he can't see the fresh coat of blush dusting my cheeks.
A/N: not the longest chapter anyways, sorry this is all you get after such a long time. Life's been both busy and hard, but hopefully I'll find more time and drive to work on this than I have been. Thank you for support!
