At some point in the night I feel the covers moving and turn to see what's going on. It's Zane getting in bed with me. Before I know it he's pulling me into his sculpted body from behind and kissing me on the neck. His hand slides up my thigh to my butt and then up my shirt to my bare chest. It continues to escalate until I feel someone grab my shoulder.
"Olivia." I hear a soft voice say as I'm shook awake. It was a dream. I slowly open my eyes, now confused about what's reality and what isn't until I fully wake myself up and it's clear that none of that happened. Why is he getting in my head like that? He helped a student in need, that's all this is. I have a boyfriend, I can't be having these thoughts and the whole thing would be inappropriate even if I was single.
"Is it time for me to leave?" I ask.
"Only if you want to but I wanted to get you up early enough to have the option. I have to go to a meeting on campus." I'd love to stay here all day but I know I need to go back to the dorm and get some stuff done. Besides, I'm just wasting time laying around here fantasizing about something that's never going to happen. I'm ashamed I even let my mind wonder there.
"I'll leave, I don't want to make you go out again later." I pull myself out of bed and finally feel completely back to normal. I collect my things and I'm ready to leave but I should've known he'd never let me leave like this.
"I don't think you should go out like that. They're going to be big but it's better than nothing." He hands me a pair of grey sweatpants. I put them on and follow him out the door to his car. He lives relatively close to campus and we're back before I can fully wake myself up. "What building are you in?" He asks.
"Maxwell Hall." I simply reply and he pulls up at the curb. "Thank you for everything. One hell of a first impression I know... but I'll find a way to make it up to you."
"Don't worry about it. I'll see you in class on Monday." He says as I get out of the car and walk into the building looking like a bum and carrying my dress and cell phone, realizing I must've lost my purse and money at some point before Zane found me. I make it to my room without too many stares but to my displeasure Sasha is there.
"Thank god, I was starting to think you were dead!" She exclaims.
"Very funny." After this weekend I never want to speak to her again.
"Seriously freshie, I've never seen anyone pass out like that before and I have no clue who helped you out of the party."
"Don't call me that." I throw my dress in my hamper and sit on my bed. "What the hell is wrong with your friends, why did they drug me?"
"If you want to know the truth, I told them to. I knew there was no way I was getting you to drink more than one drink so we made sure one was enough to loosen you up." She shrugs like it's no big deal.
"Do you realize I could've died? Not to mention that frat guy tried to rape me."
"I'm really sorry freshie. I'll make it up to you next weekend."
"There won't be a next weekend."
"Geez. This is why I wanted you to loosen up while you could." She's says, once again like it's no big deal. I'm too mad to reply and ignore her for the rest of the day.
Another hard week passes and things start to go back to normal. Zane calls on me more in class now and every now and then I notice him watching me but I'm back to being focused on my work, and that's what matters. At the end of class on Friday he asks to talk to me and it's the first time we will have spoke outside of class since Sunday morning. He makes me nervous now, but not in a bad way. I still haven't found a way to repay him.
"Hey are you still interested in me looking over some of your writing?" He asks casually. I guess when you save a drugged student from a douchey frat boy and nurse her back to health in your apartment then you can drop the professionalism.
"I really appreciate it but I think you've done enough for me lately." I don't know whether I should be embarrassed after everything that happened or
relieved that he didn't find it weird enough to kick me out of his class. "I can find someone else to look at it, I've put you through enough. I'd understand if you want me to move to another professors class altogether.""Trust me, you're more worried about it than I am. I want to help. Why don't you swing by my place around dinner since you know where it is now. You can repay me by making my life easier and meeting me there instead of a coffee shop."
"I'd like that."
"Great, see you at six?" He asks. I nod and head on my way. Maybe he wants to be friends. I have just enough time to get my work for the weekend done and change my clothes before I take an Uber over there. I put on leggings and sweatshirt so I can be comfy and put my entire focus on my writing.
