Cheryl's POV

Toni and I sat in pops. We were just talking about anything and everything, I felt like I could be myself when I'm around Toni. Not that shy, timid, quiet girl everything thinks I am in reality am-

"Your funny." Toni laughed, taking a fry.

"I'm that funny, but, go on." I chuckled, drinking my milkshake.

"So... How's your little brother? I want to meet him so badly. He sounds awesome." I asked.

"He's fine. He gets on my nerves, I can't really do the things I want too. He's too attached to me. But I love him to death so I don't mind." Toni replied.

I laughed, "I don't have siblings." I divulged.

Toni raised her brow, "Why not? I mean, Betty she-"

I cut her off, "Betty is my cousin. We grow up together." I said.

"0h okay." She smiled. She grabbed a fry at the same time as me, our hands brushed past each other.

Toni looked down with a blush. I cleared her throat.

"So about our study session today. What do we need to study today?" I asked.

"Scientific notation. With exponents." She replied.

"Okay! That's easy." I smiled. Toni laughed.

"Easy? That shits hard." She scoffed.

I rolled my eyes, "You just have to have it explained to you. You'll get it." I smiled.

Toni nodded.

At Cheryl's house
Toni's POV

"Okay, so basically. If the exponent is negative, you move the decimal to the left. Then it becomes 0.0008 because it's 8 times 10 to the negative 5 power." Cheryl explained.

"Okay. I got it!" I said, writing the answer down.

We heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!" Cheryl said. We were in the private study.

"Hey. Cheryl, your dad asked what kind of pizza do you guys want?" A browned haired boy asked.

"Oh! Hey Tristan! And tell him a plain and pepperoni." Cheryl replied.

"Okay! Oh. You must be Toni! I'm Tristan, Cheryl's best friend." He said, extending his hand for me to shake.

I shook his hand, "Nice to meet you." I smiled.

He nodded, "Later guys." He waved as he left.

"He's nice," I said, finishing the worksheet.

"Yeah. Me, him, Betty, and Veronica grew up with him." Cheryl smiled, playing with the ring on her finger.

Why does she always do that?

I sighed, getting back to work.

Next day at school
(Still) Toni's POV

I opened my locker, getting my books.

I haven't seen Cheryl yet. I wonder where she is?

I closed my locker as the bell ranged, I walked to my first-period class.

I spotted Betty.

"Hey! Betty!" I called out. She stopped.

She turned around, "How can I help you?" She asked.

"Uh. Have you seen Cheryl?" I asked.

"Oh, uh, yeah. She's sick. She not coming in today." She divulged.

Cheryl was fine when I was with her yesterday.

"She was fine yesterday. We had a study session." I said.

"Well, she's not today. Later." She said, walking away.

Somethings up. I decided to text her.
