"So, were you guys doing chores? Or were you just cleaning up your kitchen for personal enjoyment?" Charlie chuckled.
Amber responded, "Nope, my girl, Alice over there thought it would be a good idea to try something. And as her best friend, I stuck by her side and she did whatever she wanted to do." Boy, was Amber just the best.
"If you don't mind me asking, what were you guys trying?"Amber and I looked at each other, almost as if we both wanted to see who was going to answer his question. Amber spoke up, "There's this rare fruit, called Dragon Fruit. Thought it would be cool to try it out."
Charlie smirked, I loved when he did that. "That's cool. I like when other people try new things. It shows that you're just really willing to get out there more, you know?" Great, there's a tip. Try a lot more things with Charlie.
Charlie continues, "Oh, and before I forget. I came over here to get to know you guys more and maybe become friends. I don't know, maybe even exchange numbers or something."
Yes, yes, yes!! It's like the universe was all working in my favor, right now. This is amazing!
"Sure, if it's cool with you. Hey, maybe we could all hang out tomorrow after school." I thought Amber would have my back and support me on this one but clearly, I was wrong because she responded, "Oof, actually babes. I just remembered that I'm just overflowed with homework this week."
Amber has got to be fucking kidding me.
"But, I will let you know whenever I'm available to hang. In the meantime, you and Charlie can get to know each other and hang." Once Amber said that Charlie's face lit up glamorously and begged, "Oh, yea. That would be great! C'mon Ali. What do you say?"I wasn't too sure about my decision. I would love to hang out with Charlie after school. The only thing is, I don't want to embarrass myself. I think I've done that enough.
My face clearly showed that I was contemplating my answer. But then, Charlie got clasped his hands together and bent forward slightly and cried, "C'mon, it'll be fun! We can chill at my place and bake. You like baking right? Please?"
Wow, kind of crazy how badly he wants to hang out. Not trying to act all oblivious here, but I'm still not sure if he's into me. What if his looks and niceness is all a scam. Wait, here me out! For all I know, he could have moved to town and noticed the weird sick girl first. Taking a guess, but Charlie seems like the jocky type a bit. Maybe he wanted to take this opportunity to bait me in and break my heart. All for some street creds in the halls at school. Right?!Ugh, what am I saying? Charlie's not like that. So, I hope. I just need to stop overthinking so many things and just see where this whole thing takes me.
"Sure, Charlie. I would love the chill after school and bake. I actually love baking, so."
He seemed so happy with my response. Almost as if he cared about what I had to say about his proposal. Hopefully, this whole baking expedition doesn't make a left turn.
