~Beyla's POV~

I scrubbed in frustration at the seemingly stained spot as I cleaned the shower in one of the guest bathrooms, glad that this was the last thing that I had left to clean for today.

My hands and knees ached from how long I had been down on them, scrubbing like nobody's business. Cleaning everything had taken me much longer than I had thought that it would, unfortunately. The hours had passed and, being that it was now after six PM, the sun had surely begun to set already. I had been working for so long that my hair was probably a mess in the bun on my head, which I'd put my hair up in hours ago after I began getting incredibly hot. The jacket I had been wearing this morning had long since been taken off, but my heels had somehow been left on. They weren't really bothering me, anyways.

"Damn it!" I muttered angrily to myself, viciously scrubbing the little spot. I'd been scrubbing this one spot for at least ten minutes or so! "Won't you just fucking come off?" I complained aloud, frowning in frustration. It was certainly a little clearer from when I had first started, but hardly clear enough to be worth ten minutes of scrubbing or more.

"It seems like you've got quite the dirty mouth, Ms. Verdine."

At first, the sound of that voice that had grown familiar these past few days just made me freeze, hoping that I had only imagined it. But when I looked over my shoulder and saw his tall frame standing outside of the shower while peering down at me, I freaked out.

"M-Mr. Hemmings!" I exclaimed in surprise, feeling very embarrassed that he had heard me cursing at a stain. I blushed and hastily scrambled to my feet, swiping a hair out of my face that had fallen from my bun. "I'm sorry. I-Is everything okay?" I asked quickly, trying to move on from everything that just happened. He raised a brow at me and nodded his head, arms crossed over his chest. "There's no need to apologize. And yes, everything is fine." He said, looking behind me at the spot I'd been scrubbing. I watched him closely, waiting for him to say why he was here, but he never did. "Why don't you finish cleaning up that spot and then we can talk?" He suggested, gesturing for me to continue. I waited a moment to see if he'd leave, but he just looked at me expectantly, waiting for me to do what he said.

I turned around and got back down on the floor again, picking up the sponge I'd been using as I felt an odd sense of embarrassment. It felt weird having my boss watch me while I cleaned his shower, almost like I wasn't allowed to stop unless he said so. After maybe another good ten minutes or so of scrubbing, I thought it looked rather good now.

"I-Is that good, sir?" I asked, moving out of the way a bit so he could see where the stain had once been. I looked up at him and he eyed the spot before looking down at me. "Yes." He responded simply, causing me to smile in both relief and satisfaction. "You can go ahead and get up, you know." He mentioned, surprising me when he kindly held his hand out to help me stand back up again. There was a moment of hesitation before I clasped his hand in mine and he gave a good tug, pulling me up onto my feet. I released his hand and stepped away, not wanting to invade his personal space. "Thank you." I said, grabbing the sponge before I left the now clean shower. "So...what brought you to come in here?" I asked, a little bit curious.

"A man can't go in his own guest bathrooms?" He asked back, raising a brow down at me. Thinking that I had somehow offended or upset him, I flushed and hurriedly shook my head, disregarding the heat in my cheeks. "N-No, that's...that's not what I meant!" I exclaimed, not wanting him to have the wrong idea. "I just was wondering if there was something that made you come in here, is all." I clarified calmly, staring up at him.

"I came to see how long it'd be before you've finished cleaning, but I figured it out on my own, evidently." He finally answered, long arms crossed over his broad chest. Every time I looked at this man, I felt like he became even bigger than the last. I'd not been around many tall guys in my life, especially not ones as tall as him. "Oh." I said dumbly, unsure how to respond. "Well, was there something that you needed me to do?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. "Actually, yes." He affirmed, nodding his head. "Kira is going to be home in about an hour. I'd like you to have dinner ready by then." He said, staring me down intently. I looked down at the tiled floors and gave a light nod of my head. "Yes, sir." I agreed easily, since it wasn't like I had much of a choice. This was my job, so I couldn't exactly tell him no.
