3 months later

Toya POV

It's been strange as hell these past few months. Me and Rashid are still together and I'm not going to lie I love every second of it. He's always at the apartment and he sometimes come to my job just to irk my nerves. But that's not why it's been strange. It's been quiet. Way too quiet. Like nothing has happened. There's no Kenny, no drama, nothing. Mama used to say there was always a quiet before the storm. I'm terrified that a hurricane just might hit.

But to go off subject, Shad played in the playoffs and we're number 1 in the state. I was so proud of my boy. Now that football season is over Shad's begging me to let him get a job to help. I already told him no like fifty times.

"Toya," Shad came into my room. "It's the third Saturday."

"Okay I'm coming."

"What's the third Saturday?" Rashid was here too. Almost like his ass lives here.

"I have to take Shad somewhere."

"Let me ride with you."

"I don't know." He kissed me on my neck, one of my weaknesses. "Fine."

"That's what I thought."

"Don't be an ass okay?" I'm nervous as hell. Rashid is really about to meet my grandmother. He'll have an ass load of questions afterwards.

"Can we stop at the park afterwards?" Malik asked. "A couple of the guys are going there to play football."

"Yeah."

"We'll take my car and you just tell me where to go okay?" Rashid grabbed his keys.

"Yeah okay."

"You good?" I nodded and he shrugged. "So where we going?"

"MUSC."

"You okay?"

"Yeah we have to visit somebody." The ride was relatively quiet this time around. Normally Shad and Malik would be talking and Rashid would jump in but I guess today is just not the day for anybody. Rashid pulled into the garage and found a parking space on the 5th floor. "Lizzy Miles," I told the lady. She have me the paper to sign us all in.

"Hey G Ma," Shad walked in first.

"Hey babies." She smiled big when she seen me with Rashid. "Well who's this?"

"Mama, this is My boyfriend Rashid. Rashid this is my grandmother Lizzy."

"Nice to meet you," he shook her hand.

"Nice to finally meet you. Toya used to talk about you all the time when you were younger."

"Mama don't tell him that." Rashid's ass gon laugh. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm doing fine. Been tired a lot. But that's a given. How are you all?" Shad and Malik talked to her mostly. This is really a visit for them. I've had my grandmother most of my life. Shad should have her for as long as he can. "I have something very important to tell you all. Before you came the doctor was talking to me. I've stopped responding to treatment."

"What?" My heart nearly jumped out of my chest. "There's something else they can do right? There not going to let you die."

"There's nothing else they can do. They've done everything possible."

"So you're going to die?" Shad asked.

"Not die, think of it as a coming home. I'm going to be with my maker soon and watch you all grow and make me oh so proud." I couldn't stop crying. I can't lose my grandmother. I'm only so strong because I have her. If I lose her I lose myself. I can't do this on my own. "Toya honey, I know your struggle but you can't do this to yourself."
