Just to clear up any confusion I'm gonna say Melody was 8 in We Me In a Barn. I read through and couldn't find her age so I'm just going with 8. So, in this book she is 11. :) Sorry if I confuse anyone!

A flash of light streamed through a curtain of darkness. Obscuring a large but somehow familiar frame. "These are troubled times." A deep voice spoke, one that I have heard many times before. I looked up, squinting my eyes to try and see past the light. "Optimus Prime has left; to find his makers." The being walks closer and kneels in front of me, "He will not return as himself. Be warned sweetspark." A hand curled around me, enveloping me in warmth.

I tried to lift my hand but found it to be too heavy. Unafraid but curious I ask, "Why can't I lift my hand?" I stare up at a blurry face that seemed to crinkle in a smile.

"Your mind is not yet ready to use this body." A warm breath blew onto me, "You will be able to lift it in time. Just keep your chin up and don't lose faith. He will return."

"I know." I smiled ignoring the heavy feeling of my face. I sat in his warmth for what felt like hours before I spoke again. "I heard over the radio that there are millions and billions and trillions of planets in the cosmos. Why do Cybertronians keep landing on Earth? They only get trouble for it." Pausing briefly I continued, "Ratchet tries to hide me from most of it... but I'm not stupid. I know Cybertronians are illegal."

Onyx hummed, "While the universe is vast, your world is by far the closest thing to Cybertron we will ever get. Your people may resist us now, but know that in the end... Even when good people die, we will have to set aside our differences once again if either race ever hopes to survive what's coming."

"What is coming?"

Flashes of an old Samurai bot play in my mind. He is easily older than Optimus, but he's also wounded. Crash-landed and still kicking all to protect something. But what?

"Protect from Quinte.."

Suddenly a loud crackle cut the gargled voice out and a flash blue optics with a sickly purple center blinded my vision. "Earth will die."

I gasped and shot up. Blinking away tears I looked around the small trailer I shared with Cade. Needing to tell Ratchet about my dream I slid on some boots and grabbed my bookbag before trotting outside. I saw Cade getting ready for a S&R mission which annoyed me. Over the past 3 years Cade has become more tolerable but he still tries to act all high a mighty when I get involved with anything transformer. Shaking my head, I notice Ratchet talking with Ironhide and run over. "Ratch! Hey Ratch!" Ratchet and Ironhide stop and look over at me.

"Hello Melody," Ratchet greets.

"What's crackin' spitfire?" Ironhide grins, offering me a hand.

Climbing up on it I wait till Ironhide lifts me up to speak again. "Nothin' much, by the looks of it I'm about to do a Search and Rescue mission with Cade."

Ratchet nods, "Yes, Bumblebee has picked up a signal nearby in one of the TRF districts."

"The fraggers."

"I'll be careful!" Ratchet didn't like that I had to go with Cade on S&R missions, but I was the only one trained in actual Cybertronian repairs. Cade only asked for help when he couldn't compare it to the engine of a car which I find highly offensive even if the others brush it off. Transformers aren't cars, they're people. Tall, metal people but people none the less. "Anyways! That's not why I was coming over here. I had another dream." Ratchet frowned, "I was with Onyx again and he said that Optimus would return but he wouldn't be himself."
