Eliza

Elizabeth Schuyler never really had much to worry about in her life. She got along with her siblings, though she was closest with her sisters, her parents never divorced, the family was financially well off, and she always exceeded in the academic area. She never had a true problem in her life, save for the occasional breakup. All that in mind, it wasn't hard to say that seeing her youngest living sister walk out the door into the unknown dangers of the apocalyptic world was one of the hardest things she'd ever had to witness. She tapped her foot rapidly and watched her sister stalk down the road until she couldn't watch anymore, then she turned to the remaining men in the house.

"I'm sure she'll do fine," Washington offered.

"All due respect, but you don't know her." Eliza took another look outside, hoping to catch a glimpse. She wasn't sure what would calm her nerves, seeing Peggy coming back or knowing that she was on her way to the nearest store with at least some protection.

Before anyone could say anything else, the groaning started back up from upstairs. The sound was nearly inhuman and Eliza couldn't help but pity her sister. Angelica never was the type to wallow around, even if she was sick, so the fact that she hadn't been up in days and the majority of the sounds that came from her were groans of pain and discomfort? It was more than unsettling. Still, Eliza made her way up the stairs.

Before walking into the room, she slipped on a face mask. "Hey, Angie," she greeted. "How're you feeling?"

"Fine," she muttered through tightened teeth.

Eliza sighed. "I can get you some medicine. Some of the guys went on a quick run to the store to grab some more, just in case."

"I'd rather die," Angelica laughed dryly.

Keep this up and you might Eliza thought. She quickly forced the thought down. Looking at her sister's glistening pale skin was enough, she didn't need the extra panic.

She sat down on the opposite side of the room and let out a sigh. What would she do without Angelica? Eliza had never known a life without her sister and she'd never had to go through anything on her own. Anything from skinned knees, broken hearts, and the untimely death of their family and start of the apocalypse, Eliza could always count on Angelica being there so if this really was the end, what would she do? How would she manage?

"Eliza? Are you listening?" Angelica asked weakly.

"No, sorry. What'd you say?"

"Can you get me some water? I'm thirsty."

Eliza nodded quickly and went downstairs to get the water. She was about to head back up the stairs when Hercules stopped her. "How's she doing?"

"Better," Eliza lied.

As she put her foot on the first stair, the sound of something hitting the ground stopped her in her tracks. She looked at the men standing behind her, all of them scouring the room for their weapons. Slowly, she made her way up.

She called her sister's name before opening the door. A few seconds went by without an answer, so she called again. And again. As cautiously as she could, she opened the door and waited in the hallway. The blankets from the bed were crumpled on the floor, and immediately Eliza dropped the water and rushed to her sister's side. Angelica lay motionless until Eliza pulled her closer to check for a pulse. Just as soon as she felt the pressure, Angelica came to life snapping and growling at her sister as if she were a meal.

Time seemed to slow as Eliza pulled herself away. It had been a few minutes, five at most, since she'd been with her sister, taking requests and having a small conversation. Yet there was, growling and heaving herself forward.
