It was over...

The heartfelt moment was short-lived as the familiar sound of fighting erupted from a few streets away. The duo ran towards it, expecting it to be the infected causing chaos amongst each other. They were wrong.

Two figures were fighting in a blur of red and black. Despite the ever-growing darkness surrounding them, Dick could see clearly who the pair were. He approached them cautiously, trying his best to stay hidden within the shadows. Damian was right behind him, following his every move.

As they inched closer, Damian took notice of their deathly pale skin and black veins that marred their features. They were infected, that much was clear, but they weren't acting like rabid animals yet which was a good sign.

"Leave it to Drake and Todd to get infected on this so-called, 'operation save Gotham'," Damian half-whispered to Dick, who turned to face him, an unamused smile forming across his lips.

"Made up names in the field, remember?" he spoke, mockingly, reciting the younger boy's words from before. "Besides, it's not their fault," Dick added, turning back towards the scuffle. Jason's red hood was gone, and his domino mask that covered his eyes was torn in half upon his face. Tim's mask was still fully intact, but his eyes bled black which left a dark stain on the green material.

"Any idea how we stop 'em?"

Dick was silent for a moment as he continued to watch his brothers fight each other mercilessly. However, neither looked to be gaining the upper hand, which was good; that meant they wouldn't be seriously injured, but it still meant he and Damian had to move fast to stop it.

"Just follow my lead."

The duo crept through the shadows silently, keeping their eyes trained on the fighting pair ahead of them.

Suddenly and without warning, Jason snapped his head towards the dark corner where Dick and Damian resided. His eyes were completely bloodshot, and a black substance that resembled ink was running from his nose.

The fighting between them ceased as Tim followed Jason's gaze. They were no longer each other's enemy. Tim stepped out from behind Jason, stalking over to the shadows as though he could see clearly through the dark.

Damian sidestepped away from Tim's current path, using the skills he'd learned when he was with the League of Shadows. Damian couldn't see in the dark, but due to his training, every other one of his senses was heightened; practically giving him vision. He knew exactly where Tim was, and where Dick was crouched, hiding within the shadows.

Damian knew what was going to happen, they couldn't hide forever and sooner or later, they would become infected too. Then who would be left to save Gotham? He knew what needed to happen.

Stepping out the shadows, Damian raised his weapons in front of him. He decided to no longer follow Dick's lead, though he knew Dick wouldn't approve of this sudden change in leadership. Damian knew in order to find this cure and stop the invasion once and for all, they would have to subdue Jason and Tim first. He didn't want to fight them, but saving the world was more important.

"Time to come out of the shadows, Nightwing."

"Robin... What are you-"

"We have to fight them. I know you don't want to, but we don't have a choice here!"

Damian charged at Jason, raising his already bloodstained daggers high above his head. Jason's eyes squinted in confusion, before raising his gun and firing at the younger boy. Damian's reflexes were as sharp as ever; he quickly flipped through the air, completely dodging the bullets and landing on the other side of Jason.
