(Sam's POV)

"So how long have you been at this?" She asks falling onto the bed seeming to not have a care in the world. I watch her completely fantasized, if Cora was telling the truth then I could be one of her right now. She's quite pretty naturally nothing more then some eye makeup on. She's dressed in leather pants with a red and black skin tight cropped tank on, you can definitely tell what side of the bars she's from.

"Um, I- this is only my first official day..." my words stumble over each other feeling slightly intimidated by her. She quickly sits up looking to me with a evil smirk and a mischievous look in her eyes. I cower away backing up so I'm almost to the wall, I look back up to her waiting for her next move.

"So what you're saying right now is your mind is still pure meaning I can corrupt it?? This is gonna be a fun time," She grins standing up. I tense up when she grabs my arm dragging me down a hallway.

"That's Blue," she points to a boy who's sitting on the floor toys in front of him as his mom watches TV.

"They can't see us like at all?" I whisper to her.

"Correct, now if you hurt him I personally will kill you," she threatens giving me a look that I know isnt to be taken for granted. I nod not knowing how to respond to that.

"Wait, I thought you guys were the ones that would like tell him to do bad things and persuade them to the darker side?" I keep my tone quiet not wanting to upset her but I felt the need to ask. She groans grabbing my arm again and taking us to the corner of the room.

"No, we want what's best for them, you think we want to get everybody in hell? Well we don't, we're just here to make sure they live their life to the fullest and actually have some fun maybe make a few bad decisions on the way. No offense but you guys are normally a buzz kill and the kid wouldn't be happy with just an angel at his side, plus when you guys fail, which you do a lot, who do you think takes care of them?"

I don't understand then, why are they made out to be the villain, if anything they sound better. Now that I know a bit more about why she's here she seems a lot less scary.

"So what do we do? My um instructor I guess didn't teach me much." Maybe she can help me through this seeing as I am completely lost.

"Well first off you're gonna need to watch the kid for a bit, get a feel for his personality. He's already a very shy kid so keep that in mind," she looks over to him clearly fond, it seems like when a parent looks at their new born. Maybe this won't be so scary, with Tara by my side I feel like I got this. She waves me to sit next to her in front of Blue.

I sit down on the very fluffy black rug next to her, if feels as if the air leaves my lungs when he looks up to us with a curious look, but he just looks around his eyes scanning around us. Tara taps my arm with a small smile.

"Don't worry, he can just feel your presence, it's new to him he's not used to it yet. It will get to the point he doesn't even realize we're here, but he'll know when we're gone..." she sighs sadly leaning back against the couch.

"Gone? Where would we go?" I thought this was like a until their last moments thing, I thought we had to go with him through out all his life.

"They didn't tell you anything did they, well once they turn 30 we just have to hope that we've taught him enough to be on his own." I can tell she dreads that day, she's attached to him.

"Can we visit?"

"Yes, only from a far it's more like watching. After 30 they can't feel your energy, if I'm being honest it's stupid and I don't understand why." She doesn't even flinch when Blue crawls closer almost putting his hand on her leg but it just goes straight through.

"He can feel it you know, that I'm sad thinking about it right now. We're both attached to him, we're his guardians. We can feel his pain and he can feel ours."

This honestly sounds terrible now, we're supposed to pretty much raise him and then drop him just like that? My thoughts are cut when his mom stands taking him to what I'm guessing to be the kitchen.

"He has a sister, you'll meet her guardian when she gets back from her dads," Tara tells me standing up to follow them. Is this my life now? Following around a kid and whispering suggestions and decisions to him, a demon with me the whole time. I guess once he's older it will be a bit different, not only will I be better at this he'll be getting in more trouble.

I'm still not completely sure I understand this whole demon angel thing, I have a feeling Tara will teach me that. Also another one of us will be here later with Blues sister? That's honestly kinda terrifying.

"What's their name?" I ask Tara sitting at the table next to her.

"Corey, good friend of mine you'll love him," she stops there not naming the other.

"And the angel?"

"Oh, No, she just has a demon right now, like I said you guys are flakes," she laughs shaking her head while looking at me. I blush even though it's not meant to be taken personal, I look to Blue promising myself to not leave him.

"You're the weird hybrid person aren't you? Half us half them..." she squints her eyes examining me.

"I- how could you possibly know that?"

"Just a guess, we're all always informed when there's new people on either side. You would get along with my friend Colby, I think you guys would have some stuff in common," she tells me.

"What? Is he both too??" I get hopeful thinking there's more then Cora out there that's like me.

"No, not exactly. It's complicated," she shrugs. "Anyways tell me something about yourself."

"I don't really have my memories back yet," I scratch my hand awkwardly not knowing what to tell her. I mean it's such a simple question that most people can answer with something, but I got nothing.

"Oh, yeah duh sorry I forgot about that, feels like a lifetime ago, which it was. Feel free to ask me questions then, this will be a lot funner if we're friends." And that's how the day goes, me asking her questions about all this and her seeming not at all annoyed, even once Blue is asleep we stay up laughing as she tells me memories about her and her friends. She tells me I need to meet them and I don't mention the fact I can't go over there.

Filler chapter, also sorry for my shitty writing, I wrote this while being very tired. Also not gonna lie I almost forgot about this book lol. Lots of love- B
