𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭:
A world where if you write something anywhere on your body, it will appear on your soulmate in the exact same spot, and even if you rub it off yourself, your soulmate will continue to carry the mark for an entire day. Soulmates can also feel each other's emotions.━━━
(Y/N) couldn't hold the grin beginning to creep onto her face as she felt faint embarrassment in her arm. Casually checking the same spot where she had written less than appropriate words delicately on her forearm, (Y/N) stood up from her seat on the bus, preparing to get off at the next stop.
A familiar setting came into (Y/N)'s trail of sight. The one she frequently visited before and after university hours, the one that brought with it the most peace and quiet. The one that always gifted (Y/N) with a gentle breeze as she got off at the bus stop and seemingly invited her to stay, like a parent would their child. The small, washed-out cottage in front of the female stood with surprising grace, practically asking her to enter.
As (Y/N) lightly pushed open the quaint door of the library that acted as her muse, breathing a sigh of relief as she took in the familiar building, she felt yet another jab of embarrassment flowing through her arm. Her unknown soulmate was not impressed with her words, it seemed.
She didn't know when this game had started. One day, (Y/N) had simply decided to draw a small flower on the back of her hand with a pencil, her boredom taking over. What she didn't expect to see the next minute she started to draw again was a winking face in the exact spot she had previously drawn.
From then on, (Y/N) and the stranger that was considered her soulmate had sent and received little words and drawings of encouragement to and from one another. That was, until the day where the stranger turned encouragement into the equivalent of an embarrassing younger sibling.
"(Y/N), is that you? Ah, darling, welcome back! Good to see that you're still studying religiously, dear!"
(Y/N) smiled graciously in the library manager's direction, thankful for their enthusiasm.
"Thank you. I always strive to be my best self, and I'm really grateful you allow me to work here and become that, Mia."
Said manager simply smiled to herself and continued to clean the shelves in the library, careful not to miss any speck of dust. (Y/N) meticulously placed her heavy bag full of books onto the nearest bench and set out to cover her notes for exams that would start next week. Exasperation became blatant on the girl's face as she studied for what seemed hours on end, eyes dimming in sync with the sun outside.
━━━
Before she knew it, (Y/N) was exiting her little safe haven, tiredly and sluggishly gathering her books into her bag with little effort. Resting her cheek in her hand, the girl decided she was too tired to move.
"Are you alright there? You seem so exhausted! I mean, with all the work you've been doing for the past three hours I wouldn't doubt it, but you look like you're about to pass out. Would you let me help you with your luggage?"
From (Y/N)'s slightly distorted vision, it seemed as though a giant had magically appeared in front of her. A gasp of shock sent shivers down her spine as she slowly gazed up at the stranger.
"I'm...fine...thank you. I'm sure...I'll fare...just...fine...on my own."
The so-called giant knelt down next to (Y/N), discreetly yet carefully placing her studying items in her bag.
"You don't seem fine. Now, let me help you up or else I don't think you'll ever leave this library."
(Y/N)'s vision had become slightly less blurry, and she could now make out the details on the kind man's face. He had a beautiful, oval-shaped face that complemented his slim figure and striking eyes. Hair slightly parted, (Y/N) noticed the variety of blue that brightened his hair and demeanour. Along with his naturally thick lips, the stranger also seemed to smile with ease and natural grace.
"Okay, I'll think I'll take you up...on that offer, giant."
"The last part of (Y/N)'s response was met with a light chuckle. Or, in the female's case, a sound that could open the gates of heaven.
"It seems everyone else I know agrees with you, miss...?"
"...(Y/N)."
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, (Y/N). I'm Yeonjun, and I'm your freestyle dance teacher—- I'm kidding, I just started working at this library today as an adviser. Basically, I'll be here to help people find books since there are so many shelves around here that it's easy to get lost."
(Y/N) felt a little giggle escape her mouth as Yeonjun jokingly did a little dance move with a grin before a neutral expression wrapped his features again.
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Yeonjun."
━━━
Along with the already-difficult and stressful work (Y/N) carried home, she had also acquired something else to carry that evening. She looked back at Yeonjun at the door of the library, smiling softly as he waved a little too enthusiastically, doing a little spin on the spot while obviously laughing.
As (Y/N) closed the door behind her, there was no more weight on her shoulders, but she was carrying something very special. It seemed her soulmate agreed with how she was feeling about who she had managed to meet, her entire body feeling content and motivated. On top of (Y/N)'s studies, she was certain something would start from visiting Yeonjun in the library every day.
The start of a new, genuine friendship.
One she didn't even know she needed.
