Answer: I didn't.
I don't have a graphically-inclined bone in my body that doesn't go beyond the simplest manipulations in Canva.
I have been very fortunate, over the years, to find friends and acquaintances to assist me in my cover design.
Sometimes, all you need to do is ask. Or subtly beg.
I also hear there are often cover request threads on the community forums where you can petition many talented graphic designers on Wattpad.
I also know there are many cover designers who open up requests through their profiles, so search out the appropriate tags for what you're looking for and I'm sure you can find someone to help.
That being said, please respect the artists. Don't even ask them for something if they're closed to requests, and always, ALWAYS, credit them where credit is due. This needs to be a mutual, symbiotic relationship that needs to be respected or else you won't find those artists willing to help much in the future.
