Sigh.
So let's start at the beginning.
I'm not opposed to making friends. I have made many friends through Wattpad over the years.
However...
The one way to not make friends is to slide into the DMs of someone you don't know and ask them to be friends, right off the bat.
Also, don't immediately comment on their looks, call them sweetheart, darling, baby or merely just say 'Hi'.
This immediately sends you into the realm of Hi-Boys and you will forever be lost in the nether, if not blocked and/or reported for harassment.
I don't know why people think Wattpad has become a dating website, but I can attest it is not nor will it ever will be, as far as I'm concerned.
So if you want to make friends with other writers, go about it the right way.
Interact with them publicly, be it through their stories or on their profile.
Find mutual interests and bring those to the conversation.
A fan of their writing? By all means let them know in a safe, comfortable, non-creepy form of communication.
We are all approachable. You just need to do it right.
