CHAPTER ONE - Dulcibella Facciano

The ginger beauty known as Dulcibella 'Ducky' Facciano was finally going back to school for senior year, she had spent the Summer vacation feeling miserable for herself, she would try to fake happiness but nothing could make her forget the hellish Summer she had to endure with heartbreak and disappointment.

She pinned her hair up, ready to start a new semester and face her fears, once again. Ducky had regained her pink jacket from the girls but she knew it was a sign of sympathy, the girls had no idea what had happened to her, she hadn't seen them over the summer months, instead focusing on reading novels and going to yoga class with her mother.

"Come on French, I'll drive us to school." Ducky said to Frenchy with a slight smile and they both sprinted out of the house, not bothering to say bye to their parents. Francesca "Frenchy" Facciano was her beloved twin, both spoiled and both had a way with words.

As they got in the car, Ducky lit a cigarette and started to drive with the radio blasting down the road. When they got to school, she parked next to Rizzo's pink car. They all screamed when they got together and all put their pink jackets on, Ducky faking the excitement to see her friends, she didn't particularly want to be at school.

"Holy shit, Ducky, where did you go? I haven't seen you for ages." Rizzo said, addressing the elephant in the room. Frenchy hit Rizzo's shoulder as her sister shrugged and lit another cigarette and told her sister to hold her can of pop.

Ducky ignored the questions, she swapped a can of juice for her cigarette with her sister. A new, bad habit that Ducky had picked up over Summer was smoking. Everyone had picked up on this new habit, including her own mother.

"Marty, do you have some gum?" She smiled widely at the fashionable friend. Soon, she was chewing on some gum and the girls started to walk slowly into the school grounds.

"Well, here we are again." Rizzo sighed as she took her sunglasses off and Marty quickly made a remark, "but this time we're seniors."

"And we're gonna rule the school." Rizzo added as she walked with her head held high. Ducky was ready to start fresh but she couldn't, she couldn't move on - she didn't want to start a new chapter but she was going to need to if she wanted to forget about Kenickie Murdoch.

She looked over to Jan who was eating a Twinkie, "ugh Jan, that is so adolescent."

"Newsflash, Ducky, we are adolescent. I'm glad to see you haven't lost your edge." Jan added and all the girls including Ducky giggled like school girls.

They walked down the main path down to school, Marty somewhat over exaggerating her summer vacation with her parents at a caravan site but she listened without correcting her friend. She hardly noticed the figures as she walked past them talking about their summer and being childish as usual.

Over in the corner, the T-Birds were being as cool as ever. They were too busy slating each other until they saw Dulcibella wallk past them with the pink ladies, resuming her natural place within the group of girls.

She was glowing which was never an issue with Ducky. She had always been radiant, it was in her nature, she just had a way about her and everyone knew it. Now though, if they looked close enough, they would see dark circles underneath her eyes and a hallowed face where she had stopped eating as much as she focused on her studies more to impress her father.

"Kenickie, over here, man!" They shouted on their friend, spotting him talking to a girl. Kenickie saw them and gradually walked towards them with a cigarette in hand and his sunglasses covering his eyes.

"Where were you all summer?" The blonde, Putzie quizzed. In return, he got a snide comment, asking if he was Kenickie's mother.

"I was working, which is more than
any of youse kids can say. I was lugging boxes at Bargain City, moron." He said to the group. Kenickie fixed the collar on his jacket as the boys started talking about cars.

"Here, have any of you seen Ducky this year. Saw her walking with the Pinks. She's looking awfully good this year." Sonny brought up and they all awaited Kenickie's reaction. They all knew that they were together before summer and suddenly, everything went quiet and Kenickie was back to flirting and sleeping with all the girls.

"Ducks just ain't my style no more." The leader of the gang shrugged his shoulders as he adjusted his hair and the subject was quickly dropped, his mood soured from the swift topic of Ducky.

It was lunch time in the first day for the seniors at Rydell High and the girls were sitting down, enjoying the rays of sunshine. Rizzo sat down beside Marty and Ducky.

"Jeez, I wish it was still summer. It's only quarter after twelve and I feel like I've been here a whole year already." Rizzo sighed as she took her sunglasses off and picked at her lunch.

"Yeah, what a pain in the ass." Ducky smirked as she bit into her Twinkie, perhaps she had asked Jan in class to have one since she was a so starved from thinking too much in class.

"Hey, Marty, who did you get for Economics? Old Man Drucker?" Ducky asked as she soon saw her sister walk over with a new girl she had never seen before. Frenchy was with a blonde girl, a very pure looking girl.

"Girls, I want you to meet Sandy Olsen. She's new to Rydell. This is Rizzo, that's Marty and this is my twin sister, Ducky." She introduced Sandy to the group and Ducky just smiled at the girl.

"I don't bite. Unless you want me to." Ducky stated to the new girl. The girls all welcomed Sandy into their group for the time being.

"Hey, Marty, are those new glasses?" Frenchy asked and Ducky looked up at the girls, ready to make a smart comment that would piss Marty off.

"Yes, I use them only for school. Do they make me look more intelligent?" Marty asked, showing of her new glasses that her father had bought her for starting school.

"Nah, we can still see your face." Ducky said, in a light tone making sure Marty new she was only joking.

Patty Simcox, a spoiled know-it-all was approaching the table and that was Ducky's queue to leave. She couldn't be bothered with questions upon questions about her disappearance.

"Marty, you coming. I'll do your makeup nice before chemistry." She asked and her face lit up like a child on Christmas Day.

"Oh you betcha, tell Jan that we'll meet after school at the diner." Marty added to the group and the duo rushed off to the bathroom.
