Best friends walk home together.

"Iwa-chan!" Oikawa screamed as he bolted towards the male ahead of him. There was approximately a 0.00037 time lapse where Iwaizumi could react what was happening before Oikawa smashed into him, turning all the chips that were in his backpack into dust.

"Idiot!" Iwaizumi yelled out, trying to shake off the annoying bug off his back. "Have some common sense. I'm tired"

Oikawa tightened his grip around Iwaizumi and placed his chin on the others shoulder. "I know you are, you practised so much today, but you didn't wait for me, so this is your punishment"

"What makes you think you can punish me? I told you before I left the gym that I'm going home first. You just said 'okay' and continued talking with Issei"

"But Iwa-chan~ I'm your best friend!"

Iwaizumi sighed heavily, it was the undeniable truth after all. "I know you are, but if you don't get off I will slam dunk you onto the ground"

Oikawa quickly released his grips and placed his feet on the ground, never once did he want to get slam dunked to the ground again. Iwaizumi's tired stance made Oikawa frown, he really overworked himself, didn't he? "You're working too hard, take a break will you? I want you in best shape during the games" Oikawa tried to cheer up Iwaizumi who simply brushed off Oikawa's hand off his shoulder.

"I'll rest later. If we want to beat Shiratorizawa, then we should train even more", something in his voice ticked off Oikawa, perhaps it was the lack of self-care or maybe a hint of narcissism.

"I know you want to win. We all do, but I'm worried" Oikawa ran in front of Iwaizumi, stopping him in his tracks. "I'm worried about your health. You've been training non-stop, please have a day off"

Maybe it was the pained expression on Oikawa's face that made Iwaizumi melt just a little bit. He wasn't used to Oikawa being genuinely caring, he usually joked around, but not this time. There was a sparkle in his eyes and Iwaizumi couldn't resist it.

"I will..." Iwaizumi said as he picked up his pace again. "Let's just walk home now"

"Aren't you glad we live next to eachother? We can always walk home together  like this" Oikawa didn't really receive an answer to his words, but a smile that played on Iwaizumi's lips was enough.

They walked out  quietly together, along the path they had already walked hundreds of times, but each day Iwaizumi felt like he was walking a new path all over again.

It was that child-like expression on Oikawa's face that made him feel like that. He always found something interesting in that old path and he always looked at it with such marvel that Iwaizumi couldn't help but walk the very same path the next day, just to see his smile.

"Iwaizumi," Oikawa broke the silence. "What are we?"

"Best friends, of course"
