Leo was slowly coming to his senses as he felt objects falling around him and something lapping at his shell. He snapped open his eyes and gasped only to have his mouth fill with saltwater. Swimming to the surface, his head broke out and he gasped for air. In front of him the warehouse where they were only seconds ago was completely engulfed in flames and phosphorous colored smoke billowed out of its remains. Debris still falling around him he searched for his companions.
“Mikey! Donnie! Raph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” He screamed and scanned the water around him for any signs of life.
“Over here dude!” Mikey called back as he clung to a floating pylon some ten feet away.
       “Where are the others!?”
“Raph is over there!” Mikey pointed to the bulky shell bobbing some distance away. Leo swam over to him and pulled him upright so he could take a big breath of air. He slapped Raph’s face a few times.
“Wha….what the HELL was that!?” Raph chocked up some water.
“Can you see Donnie!?” Leo called over his shoulder to Mickey.
“No! I don’t see him anywhere!”
“Come on Don….dont do this to me!” Leo said quietly to himself. A few seconds passed before something exploded out of the water next to him. Donnie’s head shot out along with the unconscious mage tucked tightly against his plaston. He spat out water and chocked a few seconds before stuttering, “She’s hurt bad!”
They swam there way over to what remained of the dock, though half of it was unrecognizable among the fire and debris and pulled themselves out of the water only the flop over in exhaustion. Donnie dragged Celeste out by her waist and laid her out straight. Not minding his own injuries he set about examining her vitals and listening to her breathing. He was a turtle of many talents and acting as a medic was on of them.
“She shielded us from the explosion.” He said as he took her pulse. “Something like that should have killed us all!”
“Is she even alive?” Raph coughed.
       “Yeah barely….”
In the distance sirens rang out in the night signaling the turtles exit. As they had so many times in the past, they melted in with the shadows of the night and disappeared.

The minute they made it back to their lair they raced into a laboratory like room filled with computers, books, medical charts and other science related items. Donnie ran over to his medical table and swiped off all the doodads that sat there taking space not caring if they crashed to the floor as Leo laid the unconscious lady out of the cold metal gurney and Don flipped on the overhead lamp.
Mikey hovered on the other side, his hands folded in front of him as if he were praying hard. “Oh god I hope she is okay.” He said in a high distressed voice.
“Just back off a bit everyone.” Donnie commanded and gathered his thoughts. “We need to get her clothes off so I can examine her body.”
“Geesh D now’s not the time for that!” Mikey said in a panic.
“Dufus! I mean take her clothes of so I can examine her for injuries!” Donnie screamed back quickly.
“Why don’t we pry those ghetto shades off of her first?” Raph asked and reached for her visor. Leo quickly grabbed his hand.
“No, it isn’t right. She saved us so we should respect her privacy for now unless Donnie says it’s necessary.” He said.
“Do you really think we should be respecting anything considering we nearly got our asses nuked back there!” Raph angrily retorted.
“I checked her head earlier back at the warehouse and she appears to be unscathed but I will run X-rays if I need to see anything else. For now though I need to check her body so if you all are going to immature about seeing a nude human female then get out!” Donnie shouted. When put to the test he could be just as commanding as Leo especially when it came to his patients.
“Right…call us if you need help.” Mikey said as they all walked out the door.
“We need to tell Master Splinter about this.” Leo sighed.
“Ugh…stick a fork in me. I’m going to bed.” Raph huffed.
It wasn’t until early that morning that Leo went to check on Donnie and their unexpected house guest. Don had worked diligently through the night to care for her and now she laid unresponsive on his table with a blanket thrown over her body as he slept at his desk. He hadn’t meant to fall asleep but it took him suddenly while he worked at his computer.
He heard the door open and his head snapped up from the desk with some drool falling from his lower lip. His hastily wiped it off as Leo approached and put a hand to his shoulder. “ How is she?”
Donnie yawned and rubbed his tired eyes as he swivvled in his leather chair to face them both. “She doesn’t have any signs of any injuries, no broken bones, no bruises, nothing. I don’t know how to explain it. She should…and well we should be too…dead. Her breathing and heart rate are normal but I’m not sure if she is going to wake up. Did you tell the Master?”
Leo nodded. “Yeah he knows. Hey why don’t you go to bed now and I can watch her the rest of the morning.”
“Yeah I might do that….wake me up if she shows any signs of…anything.” Donnie got up from his comfy chair and walked out.
Leo glanced over at the sleeping girl and walked over to her. Her chest was softly rising and falling and even though her visor hid most of her face well she looked peaceful enough. Donnie was right, she looked as if she just had a walk in the park and not at the receiving end of a low grade nuclear explosion.
His mind raced with so many questions. How had she been able to do the tricks she did? Who was she? What was that statue? What was inside that was so deadly? And most of all, why did the Foot Clan, which had been inactive the past year or two want it so badly? Maybe it was all a trap to kill them and the item itself was of no value. Maybe it was them all along that was the target. Rahzar certainly made it sound that way. Thinking of which, what happened to him during the blast?
Leo rubbed his brow in frustration and sighed. A small noise caught his attention. Celeste's mouth quivered and a small gasp came out.
