EVE'S POV

We walked a short distance before arriving at a door with an inscription which read out, 'Recovery room 1'. The nurse knocked lightly before she entered. I followed behind her quietly. I was hit by cold air and loud beeps before I saw him.

He lay on the white covered bed unconscious, with tubes in his arms and nose. His head was tightly wrapped in a white head bandage soiled with a bit of blood. I covered my mouth with my palm as tears started to form in my eyes.

I looked around me and noticed another nurse and the doctor from before; both with sympathy drawn on their faces. I stared back at Nathan, slowly walking towards him.

The doctor nodded to both nurses before they all left the room. I quietly pulled a chair and sat beside the bed. With the numerous emotions running through me at the moment, the tears fell at an incredibly quick pace.

I took his hand in mine and wiped my left cheek with the sleeve of my shirt. "You're going to be fine. I know it," I whispered and it echoed in the vastly noiseless environment. With his rigid hand still in mine, a rare thought of Emma came into my head. I slowly picked my phone with my free hand from my pocket.

The loud message tone erupted through the phone, slightly frightening me. I made a quick turn to Nathan and he was still in the same position; laying there motionless. I scrolled through the numerous messages and missed calls from Emma.

'Eve, where are you? I knocked severally at your door this morning.' 'Are you alright?' 'Can you please reply to my texts?' These were but just a few of the countless messages. I struggled to reply with just one hand.

I gently rested my head beside Nathan, simply staring at the white walls. Before I realised it, my eyes were slowly falling under the spell of sleep.

---------------------------------

Unclear words came to my notice. I heard them continuously but slowly. Part of it seemed like a dream but it somehow sounded real; like someone was voicing out my name. My palm was also being squeezed lightly.

This is no dream. It's actually happening!

My eyes quickly fluttered open. I waited patiently to hear those sounds again; to feel the slight squeezes again. There! I felt it! I quickly lifted my head just to see Nathan smiling. He lifted his hand and slowly caressed my cheek.

"Nathan," I placed my palm over his which rested peacefully on my face. He smiled again but quite weakly. "Please rest." He brought his hand back to the bed and nodded in agreement.

I run my thumb on his hand and he smiled. "Eve..." He started but I didn't let him finish.

"No, Nathan. Rest, you need rest," He pouted in response and I laughed quietly. Then there was silence; total silence. I glanced at him only to find him already staring. He sexily winked as I blushed shamefully.

"You're so cute," He laughed deeply. He then lifted his hand to his head, wincing slightly in pain. His facial expression depicted discomfort.

"Should I call the doctor? Are you alright?" I swiftly rose to my feet checking his head. He was quiet. "Nathan, please talk to me." I worriedly inquired. He smiled weakly and muttered something quietly. "What?"

"My head hurts. I think the bandage is tight," He said tiredly after which I turned away from him and walked straight to the door. "Where are you going?" He questioned and I shook my head.

"To get the doctor, of course," I turned the door knob and smiled at him before heading to the reception.

----------------------------------

"Hi, my friend is going through pain around his head. I think he needs the doctor," I spoke quickly and the nurse immediately nodded and trod past me. I followed her, not knowing where we were headed towards.

She made her way to an office and came back shortly after with the female doctor. They both walked briskly before me as I trailed behind.

We quietly entered the room and I spotted Nathan with closed eyes. We moved closer to him and the doctor spoke up.

"I heard you had pains in your head," The doctor said. I watched as Nathan's eyes slowly opened and darkened immediately. It held an amount of rage and fear. I've never witnessed him that way before.

"You..." He angrily spoke and sitting on the doctor's face was a devious smile.
