Jung Hoseok stared out the window of
the bus. He was used to having bad days but today was by far the worst.
His mind kept cycling through depressing thoughts like a bad case of vertigo or a disabled record player that only screeched and sputtered nonsense. He didn't know why. He didn't know when. He didn't know when he started feeling like this.

Perhaps it was after the incident ---the one that took his family from him.
Maybe it was the fact that it was his freshman year of college, had no one to open up to, and felt like the world was against him. Regardless, he knew that it didn't matter. It made no difference as to why he felt like dying. He just knew that he did.

After ten minutes, the vehicle came to a stop. Hoseok looked around at the people rising from their seats. They were at the bus stop.

He waiting for the three people to leave until he himself left the bus. A girl he was acquainted with smiled and waved goodbye to him. He of course smiled back and went on his way.

But when no one saw him he was staring at the sidewalk and walking solemnly. Tears started swelling. His face was flushed and his eyes were red. He didn't care. He didn't even think. Hoseok was just ready to go home.

Distracted by his own thoughts, he failed to notice the white cat that was watching him.

When he got home to his apartment, Hoseok threw his books down on the coffee table and flung himself on the couch. He let the salty tears cover his face as he sobbed. Everything he had held inside today he let out. All of the anxiety he subdued and all of the overwhelming numbness was released through his tears.

But that wasn't enough. He felt like he was falling apart. His red hair was sticking to his face; his heart was beating uncontrollably.

He grabbed a pillow and screamed into it hoping that doing this would help.

It didn't.

Hoseok rolled over and curled up into an ball. He hugged the pillow close to him and cried even more.

At this point, Hoseok was desperate for relief. His eyes glanced over to the drawer of the coffee table. The pillow falls to the floor as he reaches his shaking hand out to open it. He took out a pocket knife.

With his thumb, Hoseok flipped the blade open. He stared down at it with trembling lips and hands. The boy lowered it to his wrist, but was interrupted by the sound of scratching at his front door.

He looked up and froze. He put the knife back and shut the drawer.

What sounded like a meowing cat came soon after. Jung Hoseok stood up. This distraction took him out of this mind state and all he was focused on was seeing what had made the noises.

He twisted the handle and pulled the door to him slowly. Instantly, a white cat with blue eyes darted inside.

Hoseok turned around and stared down at the animal. "Uh...hello?"
