Shen Yuan notices a lot of things.

Yes, he does.

Despite the popular belief that he was flighty by nature; if you weren't familiar with his little quirks and nuances, you might mistake his thoughtful expression for one of complete and utter obliviousness. But he was far smarter than he let on, and he knew there were strange things happening around him.

Of course he would know more than anyone in here! He had fucking transmigratted in a shitty A/B/O fanfiction of the worst trash fire novel of PIDW. The only saving grace was that he was one of the many nameless or probably non-existent characters, with no system that would dictate his every action, and most of all he was a beta! He's already in his fifties here and he never went through any presentation of either alpha or omega. Which was good, he didn't have to worry about rut or heat and more that weird shit about this troupe. Small mercies!

Plus, this was probably one of those fluffy fanfics with Luo Binghe x happiness. He'd been observing the protagonist since the boy came here -perks of being an older disciple.  While he still never gets along with Ming Fan like in the original story, he was being treated like a regular disciple: No more sleeping in the woodshed, he has a proper cultivation manual, and no heavy chores other than being permanently assigned to the kitchen. He still gets bullied by other guys due to his popularity with the girls and omegas at the peak, but it's nothing as severe as in the original. It's more petty arguments and childish fights here and there. And the weirdest thing was... Shen Qingqiu, the supposedly scum villain, didn't abuse him. Which is... well, okay, now he didn't have to fear that Cang Qiong would be razed to the ground anytime in the near future.

He could live peacefully and enjoy the Xianxia setting he'd always dreamed of as your normal cannon fodder! It seemed like a pretty good deal.

Or at least, that's what he thought for the first ten years or so.

It might have taken him a while to notice because... well, let's just say he was a bit of a hypocrite. Here he was, a nerdy fanboy living in a real Xianxia world, and despite all the criticisms he'd thrown at Airplane's novel, the world-building was actually quite impressive. Of course, that meant Shen Yuan had other things that captured his full attention!

But now that he had fully acclimated to this new world, his attention finally turned towards his own surroundings. And by 'surroundings,' he didn't mean the breathtaking mountain peaks that scraped the sky or the mystical waterfalls cascading into jade-green pools. No, Shen Yuan, with the laser focus of a squirrel on a buffet line, had finally noticed how weird everyone was acting around him!

First to note, even though he was a disciple of Qian Cao Peak, five times a day in a week was spent at Qing Jing Peak – which, frankly, was starting to feel less like a friendly exchange between the two peaks and was starting to feel more like him becoming a resident house cat of Qing Jing Peak,  practically napping in the infirmary in Qing Jing Peak like it was his own personal sunbeam.

How did this whole situation come to be?

Blame Liu Qingge, the walking disaster zone otherwise known as Cang Qiong Sect's War God and Peak Lord of Bai Zan Peak. Apparently, his idea of "training" involves turning Bai Zhan Peak into a daily injury buffet. All you-can-eat broken bones, dislocated limbs, and sword injuries, with a side of existential dread! Served fresh every morning, afternoon, and evening!

Thank god that Peak Lord Liu is always away at Cang Qiong Mountains to spare them all the work, right?Saves them all a ton of work!
