Divinity

After Wade and I cleaned up my room, I decided to go out with him since I found out my mother was called into work on a Saturday. We went and got lunch and he was honestly a completely different person now. As long as he was away from his music he wasn't being an ass. I got on the back of his motorcycle and it felt so different being on his when we were riding through Greensville. We stopped for gas and then we went to Turkey Creek. I was thinking a lot about Prince and was hoping he was going to be okay without me. When Wade and I got to his house, he decided to sit outside with his band. I was sitting in his lap and he was happy to have his leather jacket back. "Heard it might snow tonight. I feel it." He said. I smiled kissing his cheek. "Maybe we can snuggle tonight, huh?" Wade smirked before kissing my lips. "Maybe. Depends on how I feel after this show." Wade was actually being sweet right now and I was so impressed with him. I kissed him again before going inside to get a drink from the fridge. All he had was cherry Coke which was cool, but he was low on that. Looks like we were going to have to dig into the money we are saving. I cracked open the can and went outside. It was around three in the afternoon when I saw a car pulling up. It looked like Lisa's car and sure enough it was, but Prince was in it. I smiled getting up and when he parked he killed the engine and got out. I walked over. He was dressed...so well.

I smiled wide and I got a good whiff of his cologne as I hugged him

I smiled wide and I got a good whiff of his cologne as I hugged him. "Wow you look great. I love those shoes." Prince smiled. "I bought you some stuff if that's cool." I pulled away and he got a bag out from the passenger's seat. It was kinda heavy and I looked inside. There was chocolate and candy and even a couple of glass bottles of Pepsi. My favorite. I almost wanted to cry. "Awe, Prince." I giggled and gave him a big hug. "Thank you so much. You didn't have to do this." I pulled away slowly. "Well, I know it's...yeah. And I just wanted to say thanks for staying with me and just being so nice to me. I know you don't have to." I smiled. I heard boots behind me and Wade was walking up. "Hey man. So you wanna see us play?" Prince shut the door of the car. "Yeah. Sounds good. Where do you play?" Wade brought Prince over to the garage and I went inside to put my Pepsi and candy away. I went out to the garage and Prince was sitting down. I sat beside him. I could see he was shaking and that worried me especially since I left Prince and Wade alone for only a minute or two. I sat beside Prince and smiled. "You look so good. I love these clothes." I said brushing off some dust from the arm sleeve of his coat. He smiled. "Th-Thanks. You look good too. Y-You smell nice." I blushed and Wade started playing with his band. I would glance over at Prince who was watching close at Wade and his band and listening to their music. I was shivering some since we were outside in the garage with the door open. I put my arms inside of my shirt and watched Wade until I felt a coat drape over me. It was Prince's coat and he was putting it around me. I smiled and felt all warm inside. Wade stopped playing. "Okay, so what do you think?" It was a song I've heard a thousand times, but I wasn't going to tell either of them that. Prince stood up and he was in a vest with a white button up. "Look, your music is good, but it does need some work. Can I see your guitar please?" Prince was being polite and Wade gave him the guitar. Prince put the strap around him and tuned the guitar some before he started jamming out a solo. I watched in excitement seeing Prince play. Wade wasn't really paying attention and Prince was too into the music to see if Wade was watching. Prince stopped playing. "I think you're so focused on one genre of music which means it's just gonna run together. Did you write the song?" Wade nodded. "Yeah took me about a week." Prince laughed taking the guitar off setting it on the stand. "Yeah, well you're good. But honestly you should broaden your horizons, man." I could see Wade getting upset as Prince was walking back towards his seat behind me. "Baby, what did you think of it?" I guess Wade really thought I was going to go against Prince, but Prince was good at his craft. "He's right, baby. I mean think about it, no one wants a band known for one thing. I've been telling you this for awhile. And maybe come up with some new songs and play different sets." We were back at square one. Wade kicked a chair over and his band sorta backed up. Prince stood up and I did, too. "Wade! That doesn't mean it's shit! Will you stop acting like a fucking child!?" "No! You always wanna fucking agree with him!" I got in front of Prince holding his coat around me. "I've been telling you this for months, Wade! I brought Prince to help you and even with the help you just wanna act like you're great! No one is great, Wade! I'm sure Prince has songs that aren't great!" Prince made a little noise. Wade glared at me. Prince got in front of me. "You listen here! I didn't HAVE to come here to watch you play. As a matter of fact I came here because Divinity is trying to help you. Since you think you know everything about good music I'll gladly fucking battle you. I promise you I'll stomp you in the ground. May 1st, your ass is mine. I'll practice every fucking day if I have to." His voice was different. It was Jamie. I gently grabbed Prince's arm. "Fine, you little shit. It's on! Pick the place!" Wade said. "Your raggedy ass club, 9 p.m." "Perfect." There was no way I was gonna be able to make them get along. "You middle class trash. I'll make sure I fucking win." "Prince...Prince let's go..." I said. He wasn't listening, but I didn't want to call out his switching. "Poor trash. I'm sure you'll be just as broke as you were before I beat your ass." This time I jerked his arm and we went into the house. I started packing the bag of stuff Prince got me. "Jamie, you're gonna be in so much trouble with Prince." I said taking his hand and bringing him outside. I didn't even want to say goodbye to Wade, so we went out to Lisa's car. Wade was staring at me from the garage and through the windshield. "Take us away from here, Jamie." I told him. Thankfully he listened. I know he wanted to fight Wade, but Wade had a bad temper. I was worried Prince would be working non stop to make sure Wade doesn't win. We went around the back parts of Greensville and we were in silence. "You know, girl. I don't know why the hell you put his dick in your mouth." Again, I knew this was Jamie. "I don't know. He said it'd taste good or something. Wasn't the best decision I've made." "Well now this bitch still thinks he's the best in Greensville. Boy ain't got no talent, ain't got no home training, nothing. Just some dude tryna be somebody while copying other people that are somebodies." Jamie was right, but he was also being cocky. "Do you think you could take him?" I asked Jamie. "Hell yeah I can. Baby, he's nothing. You're somebody. Okay? You're sexy as hell. Got the finest ass I've ever seen on a girl. And you wanna suck some motherfucker's dick." Jamie shook his head. I smiled softly. In a way, he was cocky, but sweet, and honest? It was strange. Definitely different than Camille. We pulled up to this lake and I smiled softly at the view. Jamie turned on the radio. "Jamie?" I asked. Jamie smirked putting his arm behind my head in the car. "Yeah baby? What you want?" I giggled. "I just wanna ask, why do you want to sleep with me? Camille told me you wanted to-" "You're gonna ask me? The one and only Jamie Starr why he wants to sleep with you? Well, I already told you that you got a fine ass. Not to mention your titties are perky, but I don't really care about titties. That's Camille's department. Plus baby, I know damn well you'll love what I give you. I'm the best at it." I just let Jamie talk. On and on and on about how he was the best at everything. Said that Prince was good at music because of him, which is bullshit. But he just kept talking about himself. I started eating my candy just watching the lake while Jamie talked. I found out that Jamie is twenty one, loves asses, and loves music, alcohol, and cigarettes. Even lit one up in Lisa's car. Eventually, I saw it was starting to snow and I smiled. "Hey look!" I said pointing at the windshield. Sure enough there were little snow flakes sticking to the windshield. Wade was right. I got out of the car leaving my bag in there and started catching snow flakes in my mouth. I ran off towards the lake to see more and more snow flakes going into the lake. I was so distracted from the snow that I forgot about Jamie in the car, but I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned around. "H-Hey...did you...Did I?" It was Prince. I frowned some and nodded. "Yeah, but it's okay. He helped me get away from Wade." Prince smiled softly looking around at the snow falling. I smiled at him and hugged him. "I'm so glad you came back to see this." Prince hugged me back. I didn't want to tell him about the battle of the bands and I definitely didn't want him to be upset right now. He seemed so happy about the snow and just seeing me that I didn't want to ruin it. Whatever was keeping him happy. I looked at him when we pulled away and I felt this feeling in my chest. "W-We better get you home before it really starts coming down." Prince said. I nodded and we walked back to the car. Prince told me Lisa and Wendy were going to try and write some music and he asked if he could borrow their car to haul equipment to their new rehearsal building so they could start rehearsing their gigs soon. He seemed so excited, but I still wasn't going to tell him yet, unless he already knew. I still wasn't quite sure on what he was doing while these personalities were coming out. We got to my house and this time my mother was standing outside. "Shit..." I said. Prince killed the car and we both got out. I had my snacks in the bag. "Delphine Nicole, what the hell is going on? And who is this?" I forced a smile through my nerves. "Mom, this is Prince. He's my friend. And Lisa's step brother." Prince glanced at me but smiled. "I was just taking her home. She wanted to walk, but I made sure that she got home safely." I was proud of Prince for helping me lie. "Okay well. Thank you for making sure my daughter is safe." I smiled and gave Prince a big hug. "Thanks for having me over. I'll see you soon, okay?" Prince hugged me and I just loved being in his arms. Wade never hugged me like this, but I pulled away so Prince could go to Lisa's. When he left out of the driveway my mother smirked. "He's cute." She said. It shocked me. "What? But-" "I mean...he was very polite. Very polite and sweet. I wish there were more boys like that in this town. Where's he from?" We went inside. "Uptown. He's a musician." She scrunched her face up at the word Uptown. I sat my bag down on the kitchen counter to put away my snacks and I saw a note in the bottom of the bag. I looked at it and it said "Call Me" with a smiley face holding a phone and a number. I smiled putting it in my pocket before going up to my room. I could smell his cologne on my clothes and I curled up in my bed. My room was clean thanks to Wade, but my stomach was feeling so strange now. I waited about thirty minutes before calling the number on my blue neon telephone. "Hello?" Prince answered. I smiled kicking my feet. "Hey. I just saw your note." Prince laughed. "Cool. Do you...Well, are you okay?" He asked. I giggled. "We just saw each other. Of course I'm okay." Prince got quiet for a second. "Hey, do you wanna go see a movie tonight? I know I should be practicing, but I wanna take the day off and just kind of relax. We can go to the 8 show?" Prince was asking me out when we just met, but I knew he had a crush on me. And it's not like Wade was being boyfriend material anyway. "Y-Yeah I'd love to, Prince. Are you going to be okay?" I asked him. "Yeah I think I will be. I feel okay. I think I can control my switches now. I think...I don't know." I sat crosslegged on my bed. "If you cant...you know it's okay. I'm still gonna be there with you." Prince got quiet again before I heard him sigh almost with relief. "Okay well...I'll pick you up okay? I'll be in Lisa's car again. Do you...like Drive In's?" Prince asked me. "I've never been to one. You're talking about the one in Uptown?" "Yeah! I used to go there when I was little. So...at eight? The theater should slack by then, although it looks like it's already slacking which is good." He kept talking because he was nervous. I giggled. "Prince, it's okay. Even if we can't see a movie, we can drive around. My mom likes you..." It was strange that she already likes him, even though she has no knowledge of Wade. But Wade was a grown man bullying someone my age. "O-Okay. I'll see you tonight. Bye, Divinity." I smiled. "Bye, Prince." I hung up and threw the paper across my room with his number excited. I don't think I've ever been asked on date before and Wade...well our story of how we started dating is...stupid. But this, Prince ASKED ME. I didn't ask him. I went downstairs. "Mom! Mom! Prince asked me out tonight. We're going to see a movie." She smiled. "Awe that's sweet, Delphine. I hope I can see him more. He really is kind." Mom genuinely seemed happy about Prince, too. "I'm gonna have to tell your father you're going on a date. You know he's coming home in a few days to spend Spring Break with you. Maybe he can meet Prince." I was a little nervous about that, but I just nodded before going back up to my room to pick out clothes for tonight. I felt my stomach in knots trying to put something together that wasn't casual but wasn't dressy. I decided to go with a t shirt and a skirt which I didn't wear skirts, but I decided to take a shower first so I could shave. I got out, dried off, and started getting ready.
