~David~
The blaring of my alarm at 7:00 this morning instantly reminded me of the surely devastating events that would occur today.
Today is the first day at a new school. I know, who switches schools their senior year? Unfortunately, or fortunately, whichever, my dad was offered a new job as a lawyer in West Franklin. I was pretty mad that we had to leave Chicago to come to this small town in the middle of nowhere.
After 10 minutes of wallowing in my despair, I dragged myself out of bed and got in the shower.
I let the the hot water roll over my body, which did a better job of putting me to sleep than waking me up.
Once I got out of the shower, I threw on a blue shirt, jeans and some black sneakers and stared in the mirror for a solid 5 minutes contemplating how I should do my hair.
I was cursed with curly hair which is a pain to do in the morning and takes up way more time than it should.
I settled on a little bit of cream and then quickly brushed my teeth and headed downstairs.
"It's about time you've finally decided to come downstairs," my mom said with a disapproving glare.
"Yeah, sure," I replied grabbing my stuff. Even though we moved in in July, a lot of the house was still unfurnished and everything was all over the place so it took me a while to find my backpack.
Once I grabbed all my stuff, I muttered a quick goodbye to my mom and was out the door.
Because of the proximity of my house to the school, I had to walk. I didn't really mind it though because It gave me and opportunity to clear my mind.
When I got to school, I realized it would be harder to navigate than I had initially thought. For a small town, the high school was a pretty big building.
Inside the school was even bigger than the outside and I quickly took note of the environment.
From what I could see, the school was very cliquey and there was an obvious social hierarchy.
The group of popular kids was very evident and the other "commoners" basically parted like the Red Sea in their wake.
I decided that it would be better to just keep my head down and lie low this year to avoid any and all drama.
It took me a while to find my first period AP Bio classroom and I arrived just as the late bell rang.
There was a seating chart on the board and it was just my luck that I sat all the way in the back corner.
I was supposed to sit next to someone named Alexander Miller but he wasn't here. That leaves more room for me so he can just take his time.
"Hi class, my name is Ms. Warner, welcome to AP Biology. This class is pretty hard so you'll probably come to hate it as much as I'll come to hate you," the teacher spoke.
Wow, yet another thing to add to my list of misfortunes.
In the middle of Ms. Warner's uplifting speech, an extremely attractive male walked in the room. Like, very attractive. He must have a golden gene pool because his black hair and blue eyes complemented his sharp jawline exquisitely.
"Hey," he said to Ms. Warner, nonchalantly as he made his way to the back of the room.
Of course he sits next to me, the only empty seat left in the room. This day cannot get any better.
"Thank you so much for your punctuality, Mr. Miller. It's so nice to see how seriously you take this class," Ms. Warner commented.
Wasn't she just a ray of sunshine.
"Anytime, Ms. Warner," the guy replied.
"Hey, Alex," two girls in front of us turned around and said, seductively.
"Hi," Alex muttered, unamused.
He obviously has a reputation around this school seeing as the teacher knows him already and girls seemed to be fixated on him.
He sat down in the seat next to me and pulled out his phone.
He obviously has no intention of paying attention in this class and the mere presence of him sitting next to me is intimidating.
I shook my head and hoped that this year wouldn't be a complete shitshow.
