~Alex~
I knew today was going to be a shitshow before it even began.
I forgot to set my alarm last night and I woke up 20 minutes before school started.
That may seem like a lot to some, but I have a very tedious morning routine.
"Alex get the hell up you're going to make me late!" my sister yelled me from the other side of my bedroom door.
Since my mom had the night shift at the hospital last night, I was supposed to take Sarah to school.
"I'm up, I'm up," I responded groggily, rubbing my eyes.
I checked the temperature and saw it was an abnormally cold day for early September so I picked out sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
I took the fastest shower ever and quickly brushed my teeth. I put my contacts in and ran downstairs to see my sister waiting impatiently against the front door.
"It took you long enough, let's go we have five minutes," Sarah demanded.
"Ok, quit whining," I replied, accompanied by an eye roll.
Once we went outside, I realized my BMW had a flat tire. Perfect.
"Are you fucking kidding me," Sarah commented.
"Hey, watch your mouth."
"You say it all the time, what does it matter," she argued.
By the time the mechanic got here, 10 minutes had passed, and Sarah was officially late for school.
She would never let me hear the end of it and would definitely tell mom.
Once the guy was done changing the tire I practically leaped in the car and ran at least two red let's on the way to the middle school.
I pulled up to Sarah's school at 7:58, meaning she was 18 minutes late. She had given me the silent treatment on the way there and flipped me off upon exiting the car.
As I pulled out of the school, I was about ready to drive off a cliff when I realized I had forgotten my schedule at home.
After my fit of rage, I spent no less than 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get my schedule from the school website because there was no way in hell I was driving back home.
Once I figured it out, I sped to school and arrived just as the late bell rang.
While I ran into the school, I pulled out my phone and checked what I had first period.
AP Bio, nerd class. Great.
Even though science was my favorite subject, attending the class itself was a pain because all the guys on the football team were stupid and I never knew anyone in my classes.
The room was harder to find than I thought and I was now extremely late. To make matters worse, the teacher, Ms. Warner, was well known for being a bitch so my lateness wouldn't go over well.
I braced myself before walking into the class, and for the right reasons too, because Ms. Warner really had it out for me this morning.
I muttered a greeting to her before heading to my seat.
The guy I'm sitting next to must be new because I swear I've never seen him before.
He's pretty cute too, but that's besides the point.
As I tried to get my bearings, two girls whose names I've never cared to know said "Hi" to me but I couldn't care less.
Ms. Warner proceeded to talk about the syllabus and other shit I wasn't particularly interested in so I zoned out for most of the class.
After that, the first half of the day went pretty smoothly.
At lunch I sat with the usual group: guys on the football team and a few other girls who to be honest, I didn't really know.
Their conversations are stupid and not interesting in the slightest so I pretty much try and ignore them.
"Derek, we get it, you slept with Emma over the summer, stop saying it," Mason, my teammate, snapped.
"Sorry, it's not my fault I'm not like Alex over here who can blink and have girls all over him," Derek retorted.
The table broke out in laughter and eyes were on me to judge my reaction so I did a sort of awkward laugh to soothe the environment.
As the table went back to their brainless conversations, I noticed the guy who sits next to me in AP Bio walk in the lunchroom.
He's definitely new, because I see him looking around and it doesn't seem like he has anyone to sit next to.
I kind of feel bad and wonder if I should go up to him but decide against it.
I wonder who he is?
