~Alex~
I don't know what the hell I was thinking.
Giving him my number? I'm such an idiot.
As I laid in my bed after school, I wondered what the fuck was wrong with me.
Literally no one in the class was taking the project seriously and David probably thought I was a weirdo.
I heard a knock on my door and my mom walked in, without waiting for an answer of course.
"Hey, what are you doing?" she asks, sitting down on my window seat.
Contemplating all my life choices.
"Nothing, what's up?"
"Just wanted to check in. Sarah told me you made her late for school. Seriously?"
I rolled my eyes. I'm going get her back for this.
"My alarm didn't go off. She was only like five minutes late," I lied.
"Just don't let it happen again," she gets up, "I'm ordering pizza for dinner, what do you want."
"Pepperoni," I mutter as she nods, and walks out.
~~~
As I walked in to school, I was kind of nervous.
No. I'm not going to let this kid who I barely know make me nervous.
I'll just base my energy off him. If talks to me, I'll talk to him. If he doesn't, I won't.
It's simple, and I'm just over complicating things.
As I approached my locker, I saw Eric and Mason waiting for me.
"Hey Alex, what's up?" Eric said, leaning on the locker next to mine.
"Nothing much," I responded, taking my stuff out.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Juliana approaching from down the hall.
I took that as my cue to leave and uttered a "see you later" to Eric and Mason before quickly turning around.
It's not that I didn't like Juliana. She was actually fun to be around and smarter than she let on.
However, the girl was relentless. She couldn't take a hint that I'm just not interested in her.
Once Juliana was out of sight, I started walking to class.
When I arrived, I saw David was already at his seat, like always.
It's not like I've been analyzing his behavior or anything, but I've just noticed he gets to class early.
As I approached the desk, I tried my best to appear composed. I brushed off the nervous thoughts that still floated around my head.
To my surprise, David smiled at me.
I never noticed he has green eyes before.
"I'm free this Saturday to work on the project," he said, waiting for my response.
"Oh, I have practice until 1:30 but yeah, after that I'm free."
"Ok, we might have to do it at your house though because my mom's in this book club and she's hosting on Saturday and she usually likes the house empty, which I find pretty annoying," he rambled, trailing off at the end and blushing.
His blushing brought on a feeling in my stomach that I couldn't place, but decided to ignore.
"Yeah, that's fine," I replied with a smirk, once again trying to keep my composure.
"Ok, cool," he nodded, his blush deepening.
The rest of class was uneventful and I zoned out as usual, blocking out most of what Ms. Warner was saying.
Finally, after what felt like forever, the bell rang.
As I walked to the door, there, standing outside, was the last person I'd want to see.
I thought maybe if I make a run for it right now she won't see me but of course, luck is never in my favor.
"Hi Alex," she gushed, flipping her hair behind her shoulder.
"Hey Juliana," I replied coolly, trying to backing away from her.
"So, you're going to Jack's on Friday right? It wouldn't be a party without you," she said seductively.
It took all my will power not to roll my eyes at her lack of originality. Like come on, if you're going to use a cheesy pickup line, at least make it worth my time.
"Yeah I'll make an appearance," I faltered.
"Good. I'll be looking for you," she said, accompanying it with a wink.
She began to walk away and she might have said something else but I was too busy putting as much space between us as possible.
I'm such an idiot. Why would I tell her I'm going to be there. I might as well not show up because she's just going to chase me around the whole time.
Wow, this week's just been a repeat of bad calls on my part.
