How can someone be too young to fall in love when we are crafted from stardust and seafoam, she thought, and touched her cheek to wipe the tears, only to be taken by surprise that none had fallen. Her hands trembled, her grip was tight as she furiously scrolled through her conversations from the past month, looking for the girl she had fallen in love with, Angelina Rosabelle Lovelace. She read their conversation again, trying to relive every moment they exchanged 'I love you's' or every time they sent each other an innocent heart emoji. She smiled at the memory of her friends teasing her about those, but she didn't mind. She felt a sudden rush of love and adoration pass through her everytime she and Lina talked. Now all she had left of those amazing feelings and that childlike giddiness, were those meaningless words on her phone screen. A feeling of doubt passed her, maybe she was just overreacting but the thought of her first true love slipping away made her desperate. She was told that a phone screen causes damage and hurts you, only she didn't realise how much till that day.
She sat in the corner of the classroom, looking so fragile as if a harsh wind could crumble her to the ground, for once exposing her vulnerabilities to others. She moderately loud sob erupted from her throat even after she desperately tried to control it. She hoped that nobody noticed but fate was never on her side. She looked around the room with her tear stricken face, only to find people all around the room staring at her with curiosity building up insidiously within their intimidating gazes. She scrolled through her contacts again, calmer this time. A cold sweat began to build at her forehead as an ill feeling erupted in her stomach. She didn't want to believe it but all the searching only proved her wrong. She never had the feeling of frustration as great as the one she felt that day. There were a thousand questions that passed her mind but none of them were going to be answered 'what if it was all a lie?', 'what if she had found someone else', 'no, it was her mother that made her do it...right?'
She felt a single, unbidden tear fall down her cheek as she stared at the three pictures, she had left of them together. She was the only one who called her 'Lina', but she couldn't even trust that anymore. Trust was a funny thing, it took a long time to build it up or gain, but just one small action to break it all again. She felt her dwindling hope fall away, as she stared at Lina's bright and hopeful blue eyes. They reminded her of the ocean, even the ocean seemed bland compared to her mesmerising eyes. Lina's eyes were iridescent, one more thing that attracted her towards the girl. Her eyes were so captivating and mystical, just like her enigmatic and mystique personality. They always talked about cheesy lines and overused sentences. They found them amusing never wondering why they were used so often but judging them and giving them a label of being unoriginal and ineffective. The phrase 'you think you know someone but then...' formed new cliches, for her. She'd never actually understood what it meant till that minute.
Then there was a sudden spark of anger fizzing within her as she remembered Angelina's crimes. 'How could she block me? As if she didn't even want to acknowledge my existence' she thought, remembering all the meaningless promises, their small eternity. She knew that their break up didn't mean that she wouldn't find love again, but her heart told a different story. She knew that even though it would hurt, she couldn't let go of the memories. In the end, even though they had a sweet young love, the stars were never on their side. Even though Lina broke her trust, and shattered her heart, she could never stop loving her and she could never forget the moment they promised each other forever and a day.
