"You think the list will be up yet?" James asks as they walk up to the portrait that lead into their common room. Instead of going to the common room after Quidditch, they'd actually stayed there for the next couple of hours just to feel more at home again. It was now almost dinner and they wanted to see if the list was up before they went down to the Great Hall.
"Well, I mean Hayley is in charge of it so probably. I would be shocked if she ever left something more than a few hours of when she received it. You know what she's like." Both boys laughed as they entered the common room but both boys soon stopped as they saw what was inside. "Harry." James said shocked.
"You were right James, they are getting close." Both boys although talking to each other where in fact talking about two different things as they were looking in two different directions. While Harry was looking at Edwin and Hayley talking by the stairs rather seriously and closely, James was looking at the mess that was their common room. Tables and chairs flipped over, curtains pulled down; it was a disaster.
"No Harry, look." James instructed nudging him as Harry too was in shock at the state of the common room. Upon seeing them, Jack Wood came over to explain what had happened to them. As they looked around, they also saw a whole room full of angry Gryffindors.
"We found it like this when we came back. The upstairs is worse although they left the girls dormitories alone so we know guys did it and then we found this, courtesy of Jake Flint, Tommy Rowle and the rest of the guys on Slytherin's Quidditch team." Harry went cold as Jack walked away and almost didn't see Hayley walk up to them. "I'm guessing someone's filled you in by the looks on your faces but what's important is that you guys don't do anything straight away. In order to get away with whatever prank we're going to pull on them in retaliation, we can't be stupid now with it."
Although Hayley did follow the rules and tried to stay out of the trouble her brother and her friends caused, when things got serious like this, she knew when to break the rules and had no problem doing so when she believed it was worth it and this was definitely worth it. But Harry hadn't listened to her logical reasoning because he didn't want to, he was beyond angry and didn't want to be calmed down. He was going to make some Slytherin's wish they never made him angry instead.
"Harry! Harry! Harry Severus Malfoy do not ignore me!" Hayley bellowed behind him as he started walking to the great hall. Her shouting caused people to look over and Fred seemed to understand what he was planning. Without a word between them, Fred followed his pace and they shared a look walking in silence leaving Hayley now shouting at both of them in the distance.
