7:55. The clock read 7:55 as I slipped my shoes on, sling my backpack on my shoulder and ran out the door, "later mom, I'm sleeping over with some friends." I shouted as I slipped out. Turning away from the door, I found myself face to face, well more like face to shoulder considering that he was taller then me. We both laughed and he said, "I was just coming to get you." He scratched the back of his head as he said this, also taking a step back. "Oh, I thought I was gonna be late" I giggled as we began to walk. "Hold on, you've got this crooked" he said referring to his baseball cap that was still perched on my head. He readjusted it and sarcastically steeped back to inspect his work. I laughed for what felt like the millionth time since I had stepped out of my house. Benny was just so funny. We continued to walk towards the ballpark when suddenly he led me down a different turn. "Benny? Where are you going?" He grabbed my hand and said "Just trust me" with a smile. Soon we came to a large tree with a treehouse perched in the middle, the rest of the boys peered out the window and waved at us. We both climbed the ladder to find the floor covered with various pillows and snacks. And when I say the floor was covered in snacks, I mean there were crumbs everywhere! "Guys! Y'all are eating like animals." "What can I say? We're boys." Said Ham. I just laughed it off and took a seat next to Benny on the floor.
After a while of laughing and telling jokes, Squints stood up with a flashlight and announced that it was time for the story of "the beast". I looked around at the boys and they were all genuinely interested. "Haven't y'all heard this before?" I asked. "Well yeah, but you haven't" said Yeah Yeah. A few minutes passed as I listened to Squints tell an incredibly ridiculous story, bringing it to a close with an overt dramatic "THE END". All the guys looked at me with hope for a fearful reaction, but I couldn't hold it back, so I burst out laughing. They all glared at me and Benny threw a chip at me. "So you're telling me that the reason you won't go over the fence is because your scared of a child eating beast like dog." They all nodded, which set me off into another fit of laughter. "Y'all are crazy!" I half said half laughed. "You've never seen the Beast y/n, you wouldn't know." Yeah yeah spoke up again with a matter of fact tone. I glared at him and retorted "Tomorrow I'm going over there. You'll see that there's nothing to be afraid of and then your gonna feel real silly." They all looked astounded at the idea of crossing the fence. I just laughed it off and moved along with a new conversation.
Before long, all the other boys were asleep and it was just me and Benny still awake. "I wish I had brought a pillow" I said, commenting on the uncomfortable position I was in with my head on the wood. "Here," Benny said, scooting closer to me "put your head on my shoulder, I'll be your pillow" I looked at him with a smile before leaning into him and closing my eyes. It was silent for a while, then I heard Benny say "You know, you look really beautiful right now." I picked my head up off his chest to look up at him. He was looking down at me in a way as if he had been looking at me for a while. I felt my face turn red and I said "stop Benny." He pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear and said, "No I'm serious, you look adorable when you're trying to go to sleep." This made me blush even more so I said "Thanks Benny" and wrapped my arms around his neck in a hug. I felt his arms wrap around me, one on my back and the other cradling my head. "You know you're not too bad yourself" I whispered to him with my head buried in his shoulder. He laughed and began playing with my hair. Soon enough I felt my eyes become heavy and I fell asleep in Benny's arms.
