It's a Saturday and I didn't have to go in today. It's been a while since I've had a Saturday off. I thought I'd surprise my mom and pick up the boys myself. I haven't been home much, but I have noticed when I have that Serena and Nico have seemed a bit awkward around each other the past couple of days. I hope it's not anything serious, I'd wouldn't be able to handle it if they hated each other. My mother opens the door.

"Matthias! I wasn't expecting to see you today!" I laugh, it's been a while since I've actually seen her.

"Yeah I actually had a bit of free time from work, though I'm stil on call, but whatever."

"Well come in and sit down." She leads me to the kitchen adn starts making coffee. She always has some on hand knowing I prefer it to tea. I look around noticing the absence of little heads.

"The boys not awake yet?" They usually are by now, but it seems unusually quiet to me.

"They are, they're just watching cartoons, though I must say there aren't that many good Saturday morning cartoons anymore." My mom would think that, even if they aren't as good as when I was a kid.

"So are we still planning the baby shower for next week? We need to make sure we get it out of the way before it gets too late. She's already gonna be seven months you know."

"Yes, it's still on for next week. Serena knows nothing about it, though she's been asking about one.Hayden is going to take her and the boys to McDonald's or someplace with a play place to eat for lunch. After that they will go to the park or something so that they are out of the way when we set up." Her shower is going to be a bit unconventional. Along with Nico and I Hayden and Adrian will also be there. Knowing Serena she'll love having all the guys there too and won't mind.

"Hayden... isn't he the dad of that one kid that Elijah and Zainey talk about?"

"Zainey talks about him?" If that's true then Zainey does like him more then he tries to let on. Then again you never know with him, he always keeps to himself.

"Well Elijah does most the talking, but Zainey pitches in every once in a while. I can't help but notice He's been talking a little more than I've seen him do before. Even if what comes out of his mouth isn't always polite. He does seem to have a little attitude and fire in him. So, is Hayden this kid's dad?"

"Devin is the kid's name, and yeah Hayden's well one of them."

"Oh?" That's all she said, but it's said as a question with no hint of malice. God, I love my mom.

"How exactly is he one of Devin's dad? Is he a step-dad or something?"

"No Devin has no mom, but two dads."

"Uh huh."

"What?

"Nothing just caught off gaurd. When I was growing up we were taught that this sort of thing was wrong. So if there were any same sex couples it was never talked about and in the open. It was hidden and you were considered a disgrace to everyone if it were found out. You think things are bad now, it was terrible then. If there were any couples like that, you never heard.

"Mom... what are you saying? Do you have a problem with gay couples?" I'm getting a bit nervous and upset now. She has to know by now that Nico's not completely straight, right?

"Oh no, not at all. You mis-understood me. I was just explaining the reason it caught me off gaurd. I'm still not used to everyone being so open about things now-days is all."

"You sure that's it?"

"Oh yeah. In fact... do you remember your Uncle Anthony?" Uncle Anthony? What does he have to do with this?

"Yes?"

"Well, let's just say I'm pretty sure his business partner wasn't just his business partner." What? Hold up... does she mean?

"H-How? Are you sure?"

"Well, he never talked about it of course and I didn't know for certain, but there were a ton of clues, and I might have walked in on them one time without them knowing."

"Eh, mom! I didn't need that image!" She starts laughing at me.

"Imagine what it did to me! He was my twin." Yeah I'm sure that would scar me if I walked into something like that.

"Anyways, so Devin has two dads, how does that work? Did they adopt him?"

"I'm not exactly sure, all I know is Hayden had Devin already before he met Adrian and now Adrian's trying to adopt him as his own also." After that we sit around and talk about anything and everything until Elijah comes running into the kitchen and jumping on me.
