It's been almost 2 weeks since I arrived here

It's been almost 2 weeks since I arrived here. And throughout these two weeks I have been dying inside unable to find out any more information about her. She has been in a coma this whole entire time except for when she woke up a day or two ago, at least that's what I have heard. I am no longer confined to my bed because of machines which means I have been able to eavesdrop by sitting at the door of my room. It is a great place to get information as my room is right near the reception of this ward. I get to listen to all the gossip between nurses, bits and pieces about the outside world, who is assigned to who, and the other conversations that pass through.

I heard the screams. At first, I thought it was just another patient but later when the screaming stopped, the nurses were talking about how strange it was to have her to start screaming after being in a coma all this time and how she fell out of the bed, damaging her healing body even more. It sounds like it could be her and based on those actions I highly believe it is because I did something similar when I woke.

Ugh, it is killing me not knowing her name. But today might be the day I am able to put a plan into place. When Dr Fitzmorris came yesterday I asked for normal clothes so I might be more comfortable and it help me convince myself I should go home as soon as my fractured arm heals enough for the cast to be taken off and for my arm to be used again.

He agreed to get a nurse to deliver some clothes to my room today. He also mentioned that if someone goes with me I might be allowed to walk around outside in the city. I thought that was a bit odd. Did they really think I was going to run away? Or do they want to restrict my knowledge of a place where I can find answers?

I am yet to receive my clothes so I lay down on my bed and sigh. Where could she possibly be in this hospital? I think she is in the same ward as me.

There is a knock at my door before one of the nurses enters. Rachel, I think her name is.

"Hello Luke," She smiles at me before setting down a bag on my bed, "I believe you asked for some clothes to wear instead of your hospital gown, so here they are as per you instructed Dr Fitzmorris." Rachel finishes.

"Thank you," I say.

"Is there anything else you might need or like me to get for you? I won't tell Dr Fitzmorris if you don't want me to." she adds with a wink, "What about a tour of the city and we can have some time to ourselves, I am going on my break very shortly." Rachel trails her fingertips up the inside of my arm causing me to inhale quickly.

"It sounds like an offer I shouldn't turn down but I am going to have to pass for today," I reply unsure of how to handle the situation. Rachel looks disappointed at my answer but quickly changes her face to show a smile.

"I guess that's understandable," she laughs, "See you around Luke." Rachel once again winks before she leaves shutting the door behind her.

I let go of the breath I didn't know I was holding as I smile in relief. At least she won't be here to recognise me in my new clothes sneaking around. I yank the bag towards my lap where I tip the items out to rifle through it all. I pick out a pair of grey high cut sneakers, a pair of black jeans and a white t-shirt before I shove the rest of the items back in the bag.
