Hi! Welcome to my story! I have a lot planned for this, mainly planned throughout procrastination. That being said, updates may be slow, but SU being a comfort show for me, the chapters may get pretty long. Thanks for understanding, hope you enjoy the story!

Y/N looked over at the old coffee shop. He had been in there many times before. There was never a better place to relax than that coffee shop. He remembered the times spent sitting at the table by the window, looking out to the flowers growing in front of them. Blue, red, yellow, pink, purple... He remembered, looking back to that window. Y/N had never expected to start working here.
Blue, red, yellow, pink, purple... There were flowers hung up by strings on the ceiling. He walked behind the counter, already in uniform. Friendly, warm faces filled the small shop. Y/n couldn't help but smile. Despite not talking to most people in the city, he could see himself inside of all of them. The small, old lady with her tiny glasses, the tired teen with a laptop out doing homework, the comfortably dressed Man sipping his daily cup of jo while reading the newspaper.
He gladly made everyone coffee, happy to bring others not in the way he was given so many times in the shop. Costumers came and went until evening. The sun slowly setting, making the now empty shop look warm. Y/N had started to clean up,wiping down counters, sweeping the floors, when a teen, about 16 years old walked in.
"Uh, hey! Is it too late to get a drink?" The teen said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh, no! What would you like...-"
"Oh, I'm Steven. Steven Universe. Could I please have a simple espresso?"
"Ah, you wanna espresso your feelings today?"
He chuckled a bit before letting out a quiet "that was bad". Steven headed for the table by the window, sitting on the side Y/N always chose. Blue, red, yellow, pink, purple. He seemed to scan each flower by color. Y/N had finished making Steven's drink, and had decided to just walk over and give it to him. No one else was here anyways.
"Oh, thanks! Would you care to chat for a bit?" He said, a bit awkwardly.
"Sure, I don't mind. No one stops by at this time anyways," Y/N replied, smiling slightly.
"So what brings you to [City Name]?" Y/N asked, looking out the window.
"I needed a change. I grew up in Beach City, born there too actually, and it holds a lot of bad memories. Good ones too! No hate to Beach City, I love it. I just want to start fresh." Steven replied, rambling a bit.
"Oh, yeah, I understand. I moved here a few years ago to get away from my hometown.I can't really call it great though, this city feels more like home." Y/N had said, turning his attention from the window to Steven.
The two continued to talk for another 30 minutes, the sun now fully set. They hadn't seemed to notice, nor care, and continued on talking, smiling, and laughing with one another until it hurt.
"Oh no! Looks like I'm spending tonight it my car, I was supposed to look for an apartment today!" Steven exclaimed anxiously.
"Hey, hey! It's okay! You can stay with me for the night. Um, if you're okay with that that is!" Y/N assured him, unsure as to why. He didn't like letting practically strangers into his house, let alone to stay the night. But Steven seemed different.
"Are you sure I wouldn't be a burden?" He said, sounding a bit glum.
"For sure dude! I have a bunk bed, but I don't really need one. The top bunk is all yours for the night."
"Heh, thanks. There's no car outside besides mine, so I'd assume you walked here. I can drive you home," Steven replied, giving a warm smile.
Y/N gladly accepted the offer, not feeling safe to walk at night. It wasn't that he thought he would for sure be murdered or badly hurt, it was just instilled into him from a young age. Steven led him out to his car, opening the passenger door for Y/N. After closing the door behind him, Steven hopped into the driver's seat, getting directions from Y/N on where to go.
That night, Y/N slept peacefully on the bottom bunk, while Steven slowly fell asleep on the top.
