Y/N and Steven had just finished packing up. They decided to take a month off since moving was exhausting, and Steven really wanted time with his family. They had gotten their bags into the Dondai, then were off.
Steven had to make a few stops every once in a while to grab them food and drinks, along with bathroom breaks. Eventually he got tired of driving, and switched out with Y/N half way through. Once they arrived in Beach City, both boys were exhausted. Garnet walked over, opening Steven's door.
"Hello there, familiar stranger," Garnet said with a smile.
"GARNET!" Steven shouted as he threw his arms around her, her hugging him back tightly.
"And you're Y/N," Garnet smiled, holding back laughter at his shocked face.
"Future vision!" Steven laughed.
Garnet led the boys to the gems home, where Steven ran over to give them and his dad a hug. Everyone in Beach City was preparing to welcome Steven back, even if it was just a visit.
"STEVE-HE-HENNNN," Pearl ran over sobbing, throwing her arms around him. "I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER COME BAAAAACK!" (I'm sorry I made her so hysterical, just thought it was fitting🙀)
"How could I not come back???" Steven asked through a nervous laugh.
"Yo who's the new person?" Amethyst asked, popping out of nowhere because I'm just tryna get this chapter out and I need something to happen ahahahaaaaaaa
"Amethyst, Garnet, Pearl,,, this is my boyfriend, y/n(MYSTERION nonono I'm joking😌 unless you put in kenny from south park- then maybe-). I hope he makes a great first impression."
They all looked over to y/n in shock. Steven got a boyfriend? But what happened to Connie? The proposal that she said not now to? Everyone was confused as if this was a scene in a shitty fanfic that a 15 year old chaotic nonbinary child was writing.
"Steven,,, but what about Connie?" Pearl questioned, giving y/n a weird look.
"W-we,,, we broke up. Please, don't bring it up right now, I'm still not over it," Steven muttered the last bit, looking down, but y/n caught it. 'Not over it?? Am I just a fucking rebound to him?'(this is a thought by the way! Y'all too pussy to say it out loud in front of his family, smh😿).
"Aw Steven," Amethyst started in an empathetic tone of voice,"come on little dude, let's go see your dad, yeah?"
"Yeah, okay!" Steven said, slightly(haha slightly is the 420th word in the book) perking up.

Steven had been talking to his dad for a while, but for one of the first times it wasn't going well.
"I don't understand!! I don't care who you love, but we don't even know him! Connie was the best person, what happened?"
"She's a lesbian! She's a lesbian dad. She mixed up platonic attraction and romantic attraction, and with everything she thought she was romantically attracted to me, but she wasn't. And yeah, it hurts. But it's better that it happened instead of her lying to my face for the rest of our lives just to make me happy." Steven was mad. His family was all about love and acceptance, what happened?
"Steven, I don't want to make you feel bad, but I really wanted grandkids. How are you going to do that with a boyfriend?" Greg looked panicked.
"Dad I can literally just adopt a kid!"
"But I want biological grandkids!"
"Then fall in love with someone dad. If that's so important to you, have another kid. But if they turn out gay don't be mad that you didn't get your way. Don't be mad if they can't have their own kids. It's not your call to make, it's mine. This is my life." Steven walked off, feeling hurt. His own dad.
He quickly found his way to y/n, seeking comfort, but y/n was still hurt over one thing.
"Hey! Wait(666 words :D), where are you going? What's wrong?" He asked, as he walked away from Steven.
"Steven,,, I'm not just a rebound to help you get over Connie. That's not what I want to be. I don't want to be a replacement joyfriend(nonbinary version of girl/boyfriend), I want to be your boyfriend. I'm hurt that you're not over her. How could you be with me and work for us together if you're not over her?" Pain was reflecting through Y/N's eyes.
"Y/N, no no no what? You're not a rebound. I do love you. It's just,,, it's hard. She was my first joyfriend ever. You don't just recover that fast."
"I,,, I need to go think." And with that, Y/N walked away.
