'He does not look happy. Not at all.' She thought, examining Saiki's face, not that he really minded. Although he did feel a little nervous for the fact she was staring at his face with no worry.
He took a glance at her, a bit curious with her thoughts. 'How in the world would he win? He took a ball flat in the face without a flinch, but against 7 players is... Oh right, I'm still in the game too.' She mentally sighs.
So, he threw the ball, but with how it went was a little ridiculous. It felt like everything was in slow-mode, literally. The ball was just slowly going to one of the opponent, even though it was in the air.
Her team was rightfully mortified, and started yelling curses at Saiki, irritated with his little act. He practically 'gave' the ball to the strongest member a few moments ago, now this?
A student goes over to catch the ball, seemingly confident. She wanted to close her eyes, knowing that this won't end up pretty.
A student caught it, but it sped out of his hands, and onto the ground. Unexpectedly, the whole team was left quite as well. It felt like ages, before everyone started cheering.
''Wow... You're amazing!'' Those words unintentionally left her mouth, while she was still staring at him, obviously him getting the result he didn't want.
'Alright, this amazement will die out with time. Why does this always end up with me? First with [L/N] thinking i'm ''so cool''ー'
'At least he didn't screw up like last time.'
'...Ouch.'
A boy with light blue hair picks up the ball. He had red bandages covering his arms, for some reason. Very edgy indeed.
''So, it's finally my turn to throw the ball, huh?'' He says, smirking, is he strong as well? If he is, then she and Saiki might be in trouble.
''Do you know what this means, Saiki?'' He points at Saiki, 'obviously' him knowing the answer. Of course, no one knew what this meant. He had the body size of a 7 year old. Or a twig.
She couldn't tell if she should be intimidated by him. He looked like a kid that accidentally entered a game of dodgeball with high schoolers. Although she has no idea who he is, she wont judge any further, I guess.
''It means this is it for you!'' He yells, a little irritated, since Saiki didn't answer him. The pinkette still had a deadpanned expression, mostly uninterested in what the kid had to say.
''Take this! Meteor Spark Genocide Ball!''
'This guy is...
''Ooph!'' He threw the ball, very weakly.
'...physically pathetic.'
'Wow, what a name!' She thought, trying to look impressed, yet she wasn't. She was more interested in the ball name than his little act, though.
'Is that all he had? Wow, so he isn't that strong. If he doesn't catch this, then our classmates are gonna freak out.'
''Unfortunately, yes, [L/N].''
(( ''...'' = Saiki speaking telepathically! ))
''Huh?'' She looked at him with a puzzled expression, before quickly covering her mouth, thinking that she spoke out loud 'again'.
''O-Oh, sorry! I accidentally spoke out loud!'' She apologized, before looking back at the opposing team, praying that he wouldn't continue that awkward conversation.
'What on earth happened there?' He thought, confused, as of why he answered her.
Answered her.
ANSWERED HER.
'She thought that in her mind! I answered a question she didn't even say out loud! Good grief.'
''Saiki! Outfield!'' One of her classmates yelled, waving his arms around like an idiot. ''Throw it to me!'' Saiki threw the ball towards the classmate, wanting to give it to him.
However, he knocked out one opposing player, and two outfield players. There was a cut of blood on one opposing player's cheek.
'Oh, shoot.' Saiki thinks, looking at his hand with a disappointed look.
'With the amount of attention he's getting...' Saiki immediately looked at [L/N], an expression with disbelief and shock. 'Is it even safe for me to talk to him?'
'Good grief. I just lost my only chance of actually making a normal friend.'
His thoughts were interrupted by his team cheering for him, unexpectedly. His mood started falling even more, knowing he'll actually start being popular.
''That's my pal!'' Nen yelled, throwing the ball straight at her, making Saiki flinch. Since Nen didn't have a brain, Saiki couldn't predict him. But, of course, he was next, and got hit too.
''I guess we couldn't make a comeback...'' Her team groaned, clearly unhappy with the results of the game.
''I...got it!'' A too-familiar voice yells, catching the ball. She quickly turned away, as it revealed Hairo's butt.
''I made it back in time.'' Her classmates cheered in joy, while she noticed Saiki glaring at him. 'Ah, he probably wanted out. But this also means I'm still in...' She lets out an exasperated sigh, can this be over already?
''Just leave the rest to me!'' Hairo yelled, encouraged for some reason, and threw the ball with all his might, her hoping he wouldn't sweat like before.
He knocked out three students, impressively. 'We...We might actually got this..!' She thought, a little hope surfacing in her heart.
Nen caught the ball, not even flinching as he did.
That little hope disappeared as fast as it appeared.
''Your little comeback ends now.'' He stated. She noticed the same little blue kid with light hair behind him, well, it looked like he was hiding behind that delinquent looking guy. For what she knows, he must suck at hide and seek.
''Don't lump me in as your small fry, Nendou.'' The little blue-haired boy said to Nen, well, now known as Nendou.
''Let's pick this up where we left off. Bring it on!'' Hairo challenged Nendou, as she took a closer look at her class rep. He had a bandaged knee, there was no way he could catch it.
Everything happened so fast, she barely even processed what happened. It's as if she zoned out. Next thing she knows, Saiki caught the ball, and handed it over to Hairo.
Hairo looked back at the opponent team, and threw the ball. ''Now, take this!''
He somehow managed to knock out both of the opponents, her eyes widened with shock. She started hearing all around her, saying how incredible both Saiki and Hairo did.
''Oh, there's the transfer student too.'' Her ears perked up at this. ''Huh? Oh, right! I completely forgot she was there!'' And just like that, she looked at the ground with disappointment.
''Pal!'' Nendou ran up to Saiki, and gave him a big hug. He seemed to be overjoyed, with tears flowing off his face.
'Oh, so they are pals.'
'No, we are not pals, [L/N]! Gosh darn it.'
