Chapter 26

I sit down on the sofa, staring into space as he sat down beside me just staring at me, we have been in this position for almost fifteen minutes before he decided to say something.

"Please love, don't ignore me" he begged as I refuse to look at him.

"When were you going to tell me?"

"I-i wanted-" I looked at him, almost getting lost in his hypnotic green eyes.

"Don't lie to me Hunter.." He sighs running his hands through his hair.

"Let me explain myself, can I explain myself?" He asks nervously, i motioned for him to go on. "Thank you"

There was silence for some time, i thought he was never going to say anything not until he opened his mouth.

"People especially ladies had always taken me for granted" he said as he stares into space, he looks hurt with what he was about to say "I try to find love but I later got to discover that my money and position as the only son and heir of Knight's Empire was what they were after" I looked starstruck... Knight's Empire! Like that big company in New York that have branches almost all over the world.

"Wait. You mean you are the only son of the CEO!" He nods, smiling sadly "holy shit!" I cursed then quickly apologize cause I rarely do that, he chuckles.

"It's okay... At least you didn't go ballistic" I sighed telling him to continue "I decided to shut people out,giving the girls what they want which is the money, fame, sleeping around, not being serious,always getting into trouble" he kept listing it as I cringe.

"Wow... That is a definition of a bad boy"

"Worst than that, i was horrible in high school... People were scared of me... This caused a rift between my dad and I.. Ca-can you believe its been almost four years since I have seen or spoken to my father?" I gasped looking shocked, four years!

"Wh-what?" He closed his eyes, looking hurt. "Hunter?" I shifted towards him, gently grabbing his shoulders, he turns towards me, unshed tears in his eyes, i quickly hug him, he wraps his arms around my waist.

"It's okay, you don't-"

"No no... " he quickly sit up "let me explain myself, if we want this relationship to work, let me tell you the truth and all you need to know about me" he said.
"I was still messing around during my last year of high school, i was spending more than what I should, my parents kept warning me but I guess the wealth got into my head, the last straw was when I stole a huge sum of money for an imaginary "business deal", I almost got duped thinking that I knew it all, i wanted to make more money so that I won't have to get cautioned on how I spend it. My dad caught on to this transaction, he was so furious,he almost disowned me, my mother had to beg him, even my godmother had to call him to plead on my behalf. He accepted my apology but I always see my self as a failure whenever I remember this incident. Soon after graduation, i got an admission in to MIT, yeah... I may mess around but I don't joke with my grades. I left home because I was ashamed to face my father for all the troubles I had caused him... Ever since then, i try to keep away from the spotlight and try to make myself a better person" he finished the story, and I was amazed and shock not knowing what to say.

"Wow.... I mean I don't know what to say"

"You don't have to say anything Leah" he grabs my hands softly "all I want you to know is that am a changed person and to also believe in me"

"I believe you" he looks relieved

"You do?" I nod removing my hands from his and gently grabbing his face.

"Look at me Hunter" he looks straight into my eyes "everyone has a past, it depends on how you handle it, you just have to forgive yourself and move on, and am sure your father must have forgiven you" he shakes his head, but I held it still.
"He is your father Hunter and you are his son, his only son, he will definitely forgive you" he sighs looking lost.
