Chapter 48

Emilia Martinez is a good mother, who loves her children with the wholeness of her heart. She would do anything to keep them happy, but not to the extent of spoiling them. If they did something wrong, she won't hesitate to correct them.

Leah was a second love, apart from her late husband. She loves her despite the circumstances of her birth, she always makes effort to ensure that Leah is treated well and right, she freaks out when anything bad happens to her children, especially Leah who was her confidant. Emilia was found of telling Leah a lot of things, ever since she was a baby, she will stare into the beautiful bundle of joy royal blue eyes, telling her everything and anything that comes to her mind in which Leah gladly listens and will also chip in some words with her babyish blabbing.

She as a strong bond with the people she loves, she couldn't help but feel worried when she felt that familiar churn in her stomach. She had this feeling the very day her husband died, she got scared the more when there was no message from neither Leah nor Hunter.

She checks her wrist watch again, it reads some minutes past eleven. She bit her lip looking out the window.

"Aunty relax, maybe he found her and they went back to the penthouse" Rosalia reassured. Emilia had to phone her, asking her if Leah was with her. Rosalia believes she can't be missing, it's not like Leah was a small girl, she came to her friends house only to see Emilia getting nervous and being calmed down by her two sons.

"But they should have called, Leah's phone is ringing but she is not picking up, Hunter had switched off his" she whined.

"Mum... Maybe they are busy.." Max tried to calm her down.

"Busy doing what?! What are they doing that is so important than my calls?!" Max shrugged.

"Why are you so worked up mum, it's not like this is the first time Leah threw this kind of tantrum" Rosalia nods at Matt words, who sat down looking calm in contrary to others.

"I don't know honey... I just..i just have this feeling, this bad feeling in my guts" she murmurs, looking out through the blind window again.

"Have you tried contacting Antonio?" Rosalia asks, Max shakes his head.

"He is not picking" he replies.

"That is weird" Rosalia frowns.

They waited for another twenty minutes, before Rosalia grabbed her keys.

"Matt, come with me, i will check the Banerio's, i have a feeling she might be there."  Emilia nods.

"Thank you Rosalia, i appreciate this" she nods as the worried woman went into the kitchen.

Rosalia grabbed her bag as Matt puts on his jacket, they told Max to stay with his mother, and call them if there is any development. They walked towards the door, Rosalia opens it but froze at the person standing in front of her, her eyes widen in horror, shock and fear as she took in her bloody and scared state. Matt quickly ran out to catch her falling body as Rosalia screams.

"Emilia!!"

They woman ran out of the kitchen, the ceramic plates in her hand drops into pieces as she takes in the state of her daughter. Max ran out to see what is going on but froze up at the sight.

"Oh my God!" Emilia ran towards them bursting into tears trying to get a hold of her unresponsive daughter who was staring into space saying nothing. "What happened to my daughter!" She screamed out crying, as Matt gathers her up in his arm calling her name.

"Sis... Talk to me" he plead, his voice shaking. "Who did this to you?" Max gently grabbed her numb hands, as Rosalia tries to process and access what is going on.

She has a busted and swollen lip, blood was coming out from a gash on her forehead, it looks deep, she as a bruise on her eye, her cheeks looks swollen like she as been punched or slapped.

"Is it Hunter?" Max asked her in a deadly tone as their mother cries, he kept his stare on her wrists, which as bruises, it came in the shape of a hand.

That was when Rosalia noticed the blood flowing down her legs. Her breath hitched when she saw the bite marks on her neck and collar bones. They look so familiar to the ones of....  Matilda!, no no... God please let this not be true, she prayed.

"No Max, i don't think this is Hunter doing" Max stared at her in confusion with his red rimmed eyes. She ignores him turning to look at her best friend who doesn't look like her self at all. "Leah... Please talk to us so we can get help... Was it Antonio?" Max was about to warn her but stop when his sister wailed, it was like someone triggered her at the mention of that name.

"He.. He is a mon..monster!" She cried,stammering, trying to free herself "I beg him! I rea..really did! But he won't stop!" She screams trying to break away, Emilia slammed her hand on her mouth trying to control her tears her brothers tried to control their shock as they try to keep her calm. Suddenly, she passed out.

"I think we need to get her to the hospital" Rosalia said between tears.

I stared at the hospital room in which my best friend was taken into, she has been mobilized and was been treated but the doctor is yet to come out.

I look around, Aunt Emilia as been crying her eyes out refusing to believed what happened. Her body shakes due to her constant sobbing, am trying to console her, but how can i when am also shedding uncontrollable tears.

The twins are not any better, i know they are trying to be a man but it is getting harder for them as they both seat in silence staring into space. Where the fuck is Hunter?! I called him but he is not picking his damn calls. She was supposed to be with him, am still confused how she got into the clutches of that sick guy. He really as some explaining to do!

"Rosalia?" I look up to the sight of my mum, i ran up to her quickly embracing her, i burst into tears. I know i behave like a strong person but am human too, right now all i want is my mum's warmth.

"Ssh... It's alright dear, i came as soon as i saw your message, is she alright?" she asked running her hands through my hair soothingly. 

"I don't think so mum... " I cried into her chest,  as she holds me, consoling me.

"She will be fine, let me go talk to Emilia" I nod as she walks up to her, taking a seat beside her, they hugged as Emilia cries the more.

I reined in my tears as the doctor came out, we all rushed towards him when he mentioned Leah's name.

"Are you all her family?" the male doctor asked in confusion.

"Every one of us" Emilia piped up "what happened to my daughter doctor?" He nods then sigh.

"Its a good thing you brought her in on time, she sustained a deep gash on her head, along with other bruises, but am sorry, it seems your daughter was beaten and brutally raped"he said sympathetically, Emilia wailed out as the doctor tried to calm her down, the twins turned chaotic, after some minutes they calm down giving the doctor a go ahead to continue. "We are doing some test on her and giving her some treatments as well as collecting some evidence to get the rapist"

"Thank you so much doctor, we are going to prosecute the assaulter, we will need all evidence we can get, i think it's time we call the cops" my mum stepped in.

I watch as my mother spoke with the doctor for a while trying to gather up more information, am sure she is taking up the case. I hope they arrest that bastard and have him thrown behind bars, but will things be the same again?. With all this going on, it still baffles me why Hunter isn't here.

I felt emotional writing this chapter, i know it as taken a dark turn for all the readers and Leah as well, but don't worry, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Brace your self for the next chapters more emotional stuff coming up.
