"Dallas! If you don't hurry up and get your lazy ass out of bed, you're going to be late!"
Dallas groaned as she felt the pillow hit her on the side of the head. She yawned, stretching out her arms before pulling the cover over her head. The blinds had been opened, and the sunlight was making her eyes hurt.
"DALLAS!!" She heard once more, the voice far too loud for this early in the morning.
The sheets were ripped from her grasp and thrown onto the floor. Her best friend, Jasmin, was stood hovering over the bed.
"Dallas Hensen, don't make me jump on you, because I will do it!"
Dallas groaned loudly once more and sat up slowly, using every piece of energy to get herself out of bed. The usual pre-school insomia had hit hard last night, and the 7am alarm felt like torture when she'd only slept for a couple of hours.
"I'm up, does that satisfy you?" She rubbed her eyes and stumbled towards the dresser in search of her clothes.
"You're going to make us late, I can't be late for my first day! Do you know how bad that looks on me?" Jasmin had her hands on either side of her face, pacing back and forth as she watched her friend move at a snails pace.
Dallas pulled on her black jeans and threw a black & white checkered shirt over her t-shirt. Then she grabbed hold of her best friend, her hands firmly placed on her shoulders.
"You have to stop, dude! Your pacing is giving me a god damn headache. It's not like this is your first year, who cares about us being late. Leave me alone in peace for 5 minutes, and I'll be ready. Ok? Now go!"
Jasmin sighed and left the room, slamming the door behind her. They were both guilty of having their share of late days, but Jasmin liked to pretend that it was never her fault. The two of them were so different to each other, but one thing they had in common was how lazy & late they could both be.
Dallas went to the bathroom to brush her teeth, then stared at herself in the mirror for a few moments after splashing her face with cold water. Her hair was shoulder length and black, with a few streaks of washed out blue. She had a small hidden undercut on each side of her head that was visible as she always wore her hair up. Scraping her hair back into a bun, she applied a small amount of moisturiser and shaped her eyebrows. She was chill, laidback and not a care in the world. She was definitely the tomboy of the friendship and had refused to wear anything 'girly' since she was a kid. Whenever her mom made her wear a skirt or a dress, she would cry and do whatever she could to make her clothes dirty so she could change into something she liked.
She had a few tattoos, and was planning on getting even more for her birthday.
Jasmin on the other hand was the complete opposite. She had long brown hair, wore more makeup products than Dallas could ever keep track of, and almost always wore skirts and dresses. They were both a part of the track team as a hobby during college - Dallas working towards a degree in Geology & Jasmin working towards a degree in Legal Studies.
The two of them lived together in a shared dorm on campus, and had became friends soon after realising they would be sharing a dorm together on the first day of Freshman year. After coming back from the shared bathroom, she grabbed her bag from underneath the desk, she slipped on her shoes and left to find Jasmin in the communal area.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two of them arrived on campus, late enough that they would have to walk into their classrooms with all eyes on them.
"Will you please walk me to class, D? It's my first day and I have no idea how my teacher will react to me being late." Jasmin pleaded as the two of them stood outside the building.
