In the blink of an eye, the weekend was over and it was Monday morning again. So much had happened in the last few days, and Dallas couldn't make sense of any of it. Erin was still missing, and the police didn't have any updates. It was starting to become increasingly clear to everyone that Erin was unlikely to be found. No one had admitted it, but something just didn't feel right about the whole situation. Two girls that shared a similar age and looked vaguely alike just didn't go missing a week apart. Not in this town, anyways.
Dallas had class in the AM, and track practice later on in the day. She didn't want to deal with anyone today. If she was being honest, she didn't even wanna see Jasmin. She'd spent the whole of Sunday gushing over her new found love, Noah. Their pairing was the last thing Dallas could have imagined. Noah just wasn't Jasmins type. Sure, he was good looking. But he was more on the 'geeky' side, and Jasmin never usually passed up the opportunity to make fun of him for studying Geology. But she seemed happy, and Dallas had to admit that it was nice to see her best friend that way. Jasmin had picked a lot of stereotypical 'fuck boys' of late, and alongside that she had also been super stressed out about the recent happenings. But if Noah was going to take her mind off that, Dallas couldn't be mad. However, love just wasn't on her agenda right now. She couldn't stop thinking about Erika, and even the smallest of things was annoying her.
All she wanted to do was spend the day in bed or better yet, get out on her motorcycle for the day. She'd stayed out for hours after she saw Ms. Davis on Saturday evening. Driving calmed her, and made her forget about things. But even that hadn't completely erased the memory of Erika. That was something bigger than anything would be able to fix. Only Erika could fix this.
Sigh.
She dragged herself from her bed and somehow was able to make it through her classes. How? Nobody knew. Noah was yapping in her ear constantly about Jasmin. She loved her friends to death but today she wanted nothing more than to tell him to fuck off. Alas, she knew that would be a bit dramatic and unnecessary so instead she gritted her teeth and nodded along, smiling and patiently watching the clock. She wasn't feeling lunch, so she hungout in the library for a bit and then walked for a little with her headphones in. She kept her head down, praying that she wouldn't bump into Ms. Davis. Seeing her out of hours was one thing, but she wasn't sure how either of them would react on campus.
This wasn't just your typical 'dating' troubles that Dallas was dealing with. Thankfully, neither of them crossed paths.--------------------------------------------------------
It was soon time for track practice and the two girls were on their usual cross-country route. It was sunny today, and it hadn't rained in a few days which meant that the ground wasn't as muddy as it had been the week before. Dallas was thankful for this, she wasn't sure her fragile mental state could cope with one of her shoes getting stuck in the mud and being ripped from her foot. That might have just been the final straw for her.
Jasmin was banging on about Noah, and Dallas was screaming internally. Why was everyone being affectionate all of a sudden?
"I can't believe he's asked me out of a date. Like official. A DATE." Jasmin was grinning from ear to ear as they made their way through the woods.
Dallas nodded and gave a very over-enthuastic "Great." As Jasmin kept on talking. Dallas was slightly in front of Jasmin which meant she wasn't able to see her annoyed 'please kill me' facial expressions that she was pulling.
"He's invited me over to watch a movie tonight. Then tomorrow we're going on a date. He's picking me up tomorrow at 7. We're going to the movies and then for pizza. I don't know what I'm going to wear. I'm so nervous."
