KAI PARKER. WHY did that name sound so familiar. Maybe I had heard someone mention it at the school before. But why?

What horrible thing had he done to end up here? Should I ask him?

Don't ask him. That's rude. I thought to myself. But on the other hand, he did ask you first so is it really that rude? I argued.

"So do you want my help or not?" My thoughts were interrupted by Kai who was impatiently tapping his foot, eager for my response.

"Why do you want to help me?" I asked.

Kai rolled his eyes, tired of all the questions I've asked him. "Consider it a thank you for waking me up."

"And an apology for killing me?" I suggested as a smirk grew across my face.

"I swear if you say that one more time, I'll kill you again."

"Fine" I laughed bitterly. "I'll let you help me, on one condition"

"What is it?" He asked.

"No more killing each other." I said. "If we're really trapped here, we have to learn to tolerate each other. It might take some time, but I think we can manage to get a long."

"Or we could just part our separate ways and never speak to others again." Kai suggested. "It's a lot less work and sort of a compromise in a way."

"But then we're forced to be alone." saying that didn't seem to really bother Kai "No one deserves that."

"You don't know what I've done to be sent here so you can't say I don't deserve that." Kai didn't sound ashamed of whatever he'd done. Instead, he just sounded like he didn't care if I stayed of left.

"It doesn't matter what you've done." I protested. "No one should spend forever alone. No matter irredeemable thing they've done. Everyone deserves a second chance."

The look on Kai's face was hard to read. It almost seemed as if no one had ever said anything like that to him before. I started to wonder if Kai knew he was worthy of redemption for whatever unspeakable thing he'd done.

I walked closer to him. At that moment, I wasn't scared of what he'd do to me. Maybe the reason he acted the way he did was because of how people treated him.

"You're really willing to help me control my magic?" I asked.

"Well I mean there's nothing else to do here." Was his answer. He let out a sigh as he rose to his feet. "But I've been in this bar for two years and I'm ready to leave it. Let's go"

"Go where?"

"Anywhere." He said. "We literally have the whole world to ourselves."

I never really thought about it like that. I mean, it's still lonely living in a world where the population is two people. But, it could be worse right?
