Stan sat on the park bench waiting for Mike to get there. The boys agreed to meet at the bench in front of the bird bath at exactly 10 am and it was currently 9:57 am.

Stan always showed up early because of his father. Mr. Uris lived by 3 sayings and the first being "Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable." Stan, who grew up hearing this almost everyday, was sure to always be somewhere 10 minutes early.

Stan grabbed his phone out of his pocket and saw a text from Mike. Stan smiled softly at the picture of Mike and Bill that was on his lock screen before unlocking his phone and looking at the message Mike wrote.

His smile fell when he saw it said that Mike was gonna be almost 20 minutes late to their date. Stan knew he shouldn't be as mad as he was, but he and Mike had this bird watching date planned for a week in advance. This was the only day that their schedules lined up.

Stan slipped his phone back in his pocket and got up from the bench. He put his binoculars back in the backpack he had along with his second (new) bird book that he bought a few days prior. After packing up his stuff he started down the path back to his house.

On his way, though, he turned down the road to Richie's house. Stan rarely went to Richie's house unannounced, but today he felt like he needed to see his friend. The curly haired blonde walked up the steps to the front door and knocked. A few moments later Maggie Tozier opened the door.

"Hello Stan. Richie's in his room." She said, stepping aside to allow Stan to walk in. "Thank you Maggie." Stan said before going up the stairs to Richie's room.

Stan knocked on Richie's door and waited for his friend to open it. When the door did open he was met with a messy head of hair and glasses.

"Hey Stan the Man! What are you doing here?" Richie asked, slightly surprised to see Stan here without a heads up. "I need to talk to someone. Can I come in?"

Richie nodded and walked back into his room with Stan following behind. Both boys sat on Richie's bed facing each other.

"So, what seems to be the problem? Is it Billiam or Mike?" Richie asked after pulling Stan under his arm and into his side. "Mike. We had this bird watching date set up for today and I was really excited. I even gave him my bird book to look through so he could know the kinds of birds I've already found." Stan ranted.

He took a deep breath before continuing, "He said he'd meet me at the park at exactly 10, right? Well he texted me AT 10! saying that he was gonna be 20 minutes late. I know it's stupid to be mad about that, but...I don't know Rich." Stan finished with a sad sigh.

Richie wrapped Stan in a warm hug and squeezed him tightly. "You have every right to feel upset, Stan. He made a promise and he broke it. Did he give you a reason as to why he was late?" Richie asked. Stan pulled his phone out of his pocket and handed it to Richie after unlocking it.

The message said: 'Stan. I am so sorry. I forgot all about our date. I was with Bill last night and I woke up late. I will be there in like 20 minutes. I love you, Dove.'

Richie turned off Stan's phone and handed it back to him while giving a long sigh. "Yeah if Eds sent me a message like that I would be pissed too." Stan smiled and leaned his head back on Richie's shoulder.

"What do I do Richie?" Stan asked in a sad tone. "Well if I were you, I would go to my house and wait for him to come.
After that you asked him what he and Bill were doing last night that made him so late." Richie replied and placed a hand on his thigh in a friendly manner.

"Okay. Thank you Richie. I'll see you tomorrow at the Quarry." with that Stan stood up and left the Tozier house.

When Stan got back home he saw Mike sitting on his porch with his bird book in his lap. Mike heard Stan's footsteps up to him and looked up. Mike smiled at his boyfriend before seeing the upset expression on his face.

Mike quickly stood from his spot on the porch and walked up to Stan. "I am so sorry. I woke up late and I had to go back home. I was at the club house with Bill last night and we fell asleep and when I woke up it was 10 and when I got to the park I saw that you weren't there so I came here." Mike explained trying to get Stan to be not as mad.

Stan kept the scowl on his face for a few moments before sighing and uncrossing his arms.

"It's fine Mike. I can't be mad at you for spending time with our boyfriend. You wanna come inside?" Stan asked. Mike smiled sadly and nodded.

The two boys went inside Stan's house and into his room. "Oh and here's your bird book. I studied it and I now know that you've found 50 bird species in our park and at the barrens."

Stan smiled and took the book out of Mike's hands. He walked over to his bookshelf that was filled with all types of books.

Harry Potter, Stephen King, James Patterson, bird books, and the occasional comic that he got from his friends.

Stan put his book back in its place and stood there for a second. Mike walked up behind him. He wrapped his arms around Stan and placed his head on his shoulder.

Stan placed his hands over Mike's and leaned into his chest. Mike kissed Stan's neck and up to his cheek. "I'm sorry Stan." Mike whispered again. Stan smiled and turned around in Mike's grasp.

Stan moved his hands up Mike's biceps and kissed him softly. "It's okay Mike. I promise. Can we just cuddle and forget about it?" Stan asked.

Mike smiled and nodded before leading Stan to his bed. They both got onto the bed and pulled the covers over themselves. Stan placed his head on Mike's chest and rubbed his hand up and down his abs.

"Do you wanna go bird watching tomorrow?" Mike asked after a few minutes. Stan looked up with a smile on his face. "But I thought you had work at the library tomorrow." Stan pushed up so he was laying on his stomach and looking at Mike.

The other male smiled sweetly and placed a hand on the back of Stan's head. "I can call in and say I'm sick. I wanna make it up to you."

Stan smiled and leaned down to kiss Mike. When they pulled away and Stan went back onto Mike's chest. "I love you Mike." Stan whispered. "I love you too, Stan, so very much."

After a few minutes, Stan asked, "What did you guys do that made you so late anyways?"

Mike went still and simply glanced down at his lover. "Uh, nothing...really." He answered, quickly looking back at the ceiling.

"You fucked him!?"
