"So, let me get this straight. There's no pearly gates, no angels, and no sitting on clouds and eating grapes for an eternity?" Frank asked as they walked through the barren landscape, trecking through the wreck of what seemed to be mementos from a human civilisation "That is correct. At least for now." Mother War said calmly "What we are in is likened to the christian idea of purgatory. You're here to pay for your sins on the Earth so your soul can be cleaned before moving onto the Next, if you wish to move on that is." Frank looked at her with wide eyes "Why would anyone wanna stay in this dump." He snorted and Mother War kept walking "Because either they  cannot face their sins or they wish to join The Black Parade." She explains "The Black Parade?" Frank asked quizzically and War nodded "The Black Parade." She affirmed "Well what the fuck is that?" Frank asked. It was then his ears picked up the sound of drums far in the distance, beating, repeating drums "They are on their way." Mother War hummed "The Black Parade." She continued as they walked through the ruins "The soldiers of the afterlife but not soldiers as you would think no. They are the artists; Painters, authors, musicians. The arts are the weapons in the afterlife and thus those who wield them are the soldiers." She said wistfully "I am their General, a mother, kind and caring is what made me their leader and it is what will aid us in winning." Frank blinked, he was confused and completely out of his depth with all of this

"Rad." He responded.

For the past God knows how long Frank had been walking in silence with Mother War and they had finally reached 'The City'. The high rises were ruined all around them as Mother War stood in the centre of  the large Main Street and that's when Frank caught his first glimpse of The Parade. The flags, large and swaying in the wind. It was a large gathering of people and at the very front were three people in a triangle shape. Frank squinted to try and make them out clearer but soon they were getting closer and closer and closer and-
He could see them.
His heart plunged down to his stomach.
Tears welled up in his eyes.
There they were.
