Just Like Kindergarten

“Okay class, since it’s our very first day together we’re going to spend one hour playing lots of games together,” my kindergarten teacher said.

After a little bit more talking about all the games we could play she finally let us get up from sitting cross legged and play. I looked around the big classroom; there were so many people to play with! I looked for a game I wanted to play. There was blocks and dress up and painting stuff and play dough! I didn’t know what to pick!

I looked again and saw a little boy with brown hair, like mine but shorter, sitting in the corner of the room by himself. He was play with some cards, it looked like he was playing snap! I loved snap; it was my most favourite game ever! I walked over to the boy.

He looked up when I got to him; he had pretty blue eyes like my mummy.

  “Hi,” I said to him.

  “Hi,” he replied nervously.

“Are you playing snap?” I asked him.

  “Yes,” he told me.

“Snap is the most bestest game in the whole world! Can I play with you?” I said in a rush, excited.

He smiled a silly smile and said,

“It is the bestest game ever! I tried to tell the other boys and girls but they said it was silly. But now we can play!”

I smiled a big smile back at him and sat down to play.

“My name’s Liam,” he told me.

“My name’s Ella,” I said back.

We played snap for the rest of the time and then we ate recess together and drew pictures in the dirt with sticks. I drew a princess trapped in a tower and Liam drew a prince with a sword to save her. We had so much fun!

After recess we got to pick were we sit to do work and stuff, so me and Liam picked seats next to each other and drew more pictures for each other. He drew me a dragon to keep monsters away and I drew him a fairy to sprinkle fairy dust on him so he could always be happy.  Then the teacher made all the boys and girls, even me and Liam, write lots of words in a special book.

Next it was lunch time and me and Liam sat together and drew more pictures in the dirt. After that we had to do more writing but then we got to play more games so we played snap again.

Then it was home time. I didn’t want to stop playing with Liam but mummy was here to take me home so I said goodbye and he ran off to find his mummy.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see Liam again.

“I think we should be bestest friends,” he told me with his goofy smile.

“Well that’s good, cause I think we should be bestest friends too” was my reply.
