Zachariah's POV

Is he going to start talking or what? My wolf, Azlan, complains.

My patience is running thin. I grumble back.

"Start talking!" I spit out annoyed.

"R-right. We've had an influx of rogue sightings just outside our borders. They never cross over the lines. They just... sit there." One of my patrollers informs me.

"So, they're just watching us?" My beta, Elias, cringes. "What satisfaction does that give them?!"

"That doesn't make any sense." I slam my hands on the desk and stand up. "What the hell do those fuckers want?"

"Uh- we're not sure, Alpha." He stutters out.

"Double the patrollers." I command. "I don't want any gaps between shift changes!"

"Yes, Alpha." He bows his head then walks out of my office.

"I want informed about every single rogue sighting until this issue is taken care of!" I scream after him.

Elias begins pacing back and forth. His brows are furrowed with worry. I know what he's thinking.

"Damian will be okay." I try to comfort him. "I know you sure as hell won't let anything happen to him. I won't, either."

He stops to look me. I can't help but notice the tears threatening to fall from his eyes. "I can't lose him. He's come so far, since-"

"We won't let them get him." I interrupt trying to keep him and his wolf calm. "He's safe here."

Elias just nods and walks out of my office. Most likely, to find Damian for some comfort. I sit down in my chair and sigh.

I don't like seeing Eli like that. I tell Az.

Damian will be okay. Az reassures me.

Damian was captured by a group of rogues before crossing Dark Moon borders and finding Elias. It took him 3 months before he told us what happened. Eli was ready to go on a killing rampage. Dame went through some really gruesome things. I know Eli fears that Damian will be taken back by them.

We will protect the pack. Azlan confirms what I'm already thinking. Rogues are stupid if they think they will make it 50 feet past our borders.

You're right. I reply.

Elias' POV

After I heard the news from the patroller, I was having an internal meltdown. All I could think of was my mate. I need to see him. I need to hold him. I need to feel him. I won't settle down until I'm near him.

I went straight to our house. It's the only place he can be at 1pm, right? Warrior training ends at 12pm, so he's most likely reading somewhere here. I walk in and look around. He's not in our bedroom. I check the bathroom. He's not there. I call out to him while walking around the house. Nothing.

Where the fuck could he be?! My wolf, Syd, growls. I want our mate in our arms.

I know, Syd. We'll find him. I promise him.
