Zac's POV
I open my eyes immediately regretting that choice as the sunlight blasting the room is making my already terrible headache so much worse. I didn't even know that was possible.
"Ughhh..." I groan as I sit up in the bed I'm in.
This isn't my bed. I look around the room quickly realizing I'm at Eli & Damian's house. Thankfully, I didn't do anything extremely stupid last night. Well, I haven't talked to Eli yet, so who knows what I did. I glance around the room a second time noticing Theo asleep in a chair across from me.
His long blonde hair is a mess sprawled across his forehead. He's even slightly snoring. It's kinda cute. I throw my shirt at him and it lands right on his face. He jumps up from his chair eyes darting around the room in fear.
"Theo." I try to calm him. "It's okay. You're okay."
"What the fu- " he coughs. "I- I mean, Alpha Zachariah, you're awake."
"Unfortunately, I can't sleep the entire day away being head of this pack." I chuckle.
Theo looks at his watch. "It's 4pm."
"WHAT?!" I scramble out of bed throwing on shorts that are sitting on the chair next to me. I pull my hair back into a messy bun.
"A- alpha?" Theo squeaks.
"My dad is going to kill me if I don't get to training."
"Your father was here earlier to check on you." He informs me. "He's okay with you taking it easy today. You can pick everything back up tomorrow."
"But- " I'm silenced by Theo continuing.
"Let's go back to the pack house and get you something to eat. I'm sure you're starving."
"I'm not really hungry."
Theo's eyes immediately go dark giving me a silent, but deadly warning that this isn't an option. It's an order. "I was given the job of taking care of you today. I don't mess around with my duties, Alpha."
"I know you don't, Silver." I smile and pat him on the head as I leave the room to head to the pack house.
He hesitates before following me outside.

At the house, I tell Theo I want to take a shower really quick then I'll come back downstairs to eat. He very reluctantly agrees to let me go off on my own. I'm sure he's giving me a time limit in his head before he comes to check on me.
I step inside my room and immediately notice a big change. It no longer smells like Jasper. The sheets have been changed. Carpets were shampooed. All of his belongings removed from my closet and bathroom.
Goddess, am I that undeserving of a mate that I feel relieved and happy that he's gone? It feels like I can begin to move on... finally.
I feel the same way. It's not a bad thing, though.
After I'm done taking my long shower, I wrap a towel around my waist and walk out into my room to get dressed. Theo is sitting on the edge of my bed looking extremely uncomfortable.
"Theo?" I question. "Can I help you?"
"S-sorry, Alpha Zachariah." He stutters. "Thirty minutes went by and I got worried. I wanted to make sure you're okay."
"That's sweet. I'm perfectly fine." I take a deep breath. "I haven't been this good since- "
"Don't say his name." He interrupts. "Just uh- just let yourself accept whatever you're feeling without mentioning him. He doesn't deserve your thoughts."
I have known Theo since I was 13. He came across our land as a rogue. No one knows what happened to his original pack or his family. I assume maybe he'll tell us one day. He's shy and soft spoken. But what I do know is that when he has something to say, he will make sure he's heard. He's also extremely loyal, caring, and a kick ass warrior.
"Thank you, Silver." I say then head into my closet to throw on some shorts and a tank top.

Back in the kitchen, both Theo and I are eating taco bowls that the cooks made for us. Eating doesn't feel like an unnecessary chore anymore. It's strange how everything feels somewhat normal today.
"Theo, where are Elias and Damian?" I question because normally they're both hovering over me all day. "I remember Eli picked me up from the bar last night, but they disappeared this morning."
I notice a slight change in his demeanor with my question. "Uh- they just had to run a few errands in the next town over. They'll be back soon."
Lies. I can tell he's lying and I'm not happy about it. I'm trying to remain calm, but I do not like being lied to.
"Silver, I suggest you tell me the truth about what they're doing before I explode. I don't do well being lied to."
"Why do you call me Silver?" The audacity he has to question me instead of answering my question.
"I asked you-"
"I assume it's because of my eyes for some reason. My eyes are a boring grey. There's definitely no hint of silver in them." He continues. "Just a pale, dull, and ugly grey."
"Your eyes remind me of the grey clouds that appear before a thunderstorm. The constant swirl of light and dark with a hint of light always moving to form the cloud. But when lightning strikes, the clouds flash into a beautiful silver showing their strength. You are often timid and swirling with emotions that you try your best to hide. I can read emotions pretty well, but not yours. And when you decide you need to be heard, that's your strength coming out that everyone sees."
I can't tell if he's offended or not by my explanation. It looks like there's a faint blush painting his cheeks and he's refusing to make eye contact with me. I can't deny that it's an adorable sight.
"I think you give me too much credit." He mumbles. "I'm just an ex-rogue with nowhere and no one to call home."
"Is this not your home?"
"Sure, for now. When you all get tired of me, you'll banish me from the pack and I'll be back on my own again. Next time that happens, I might not get as lucky to find another amazing pack.
My heart breaks for him. He sounds so defeated. I wish he could see how much the pack adores him. My parents were quick to take him in when he crossed our path. They saw something in him.
"Is that what happened with your old pack?" I hope I'm not overstepping by asking.
"We're back!" Damian yells as they enter the house.
"Zac, you're eating?" Eli and Damian both stand in the doorway stunned.
I ignore them for a minute looking in the direction Theo was sitting. He disappeared without me noticing. I'll find him another time.
"Yeah, I'm eating." I shrug continuing to finish my food.
They both come over and give me a big hug. "We're so proud of our baby boy." They coo.
I shove them off me trying to act unhappy. In reality, I'm thrilled to have people who care about me this much. I will no longer dwell on my past with Jasper. He doesn't want me. I'll come across someone who does... maybe or maybe not. Either way I'll focus on being the best Alpha, friend, son, and uncle that I can be.
