MINX
Minx finds herself in a hall of mirrors. Other identical versions of herself match her movements on either side of her and then at the very end of this maze, she sees herself, but her face is too blurred to see any features. She starts down the hallway, listening to the sound of her echoing footsteps. They're slow, the heel of her boot clacking against the mirror that makes up the floor. She isn't sure why she's walking or where she's heading but a maze full of mirrors seems too lonely to not walk through, pay it some attention.
"Help!" A familiar deep voice shrieks from somewhere in the maze, somewhere Minx doesn't know how to get to. "Minx, help me!"
Nate. Minx turns down a left hallway, dragging her nails across the glass of a mirror. She turns down a right one then straight ahead. "Nate?" She cries out, picking up the pace, desperate for her brother to call out for her again. This puzzle is silent, though. Just the sound of her own footsteps and staggered breaths. "Where are you?"
"Please help me." Nate whimpers. He's crying.
Minx feels a tear of her own stream down her cheek. "I'm coming!" Minx assures her brother. She's jogging now, breathless from making her way down the halls she's turning down over and over again with no destination in sight. She spins on her heel when she reaches a dead end, all of the other Minxs in the mirrors around her following suit. "Help me find you!"
"There are mirrors!" Nate calls out. "He's coming back soon."
"Who?" Minx cries but her brother doesn't respond. She tears through the labyrinth, feeling the urge to just punch her way through until she finds her brother. She wants to shatter each and every mirror guarding the correct path she needs to take to find him. She absolutely, positively hates mazes.
Minx rounds the corner, finding Nate slumped on the ground further into the narrow space. She runs, but her legs are moving in slow motion. Her hair is bouncing behind her, her arms pumping at her sides. Nate's eyes are shut now, blood seeping through his black jacket. Minx watches a sleeved arm emerge from the hallway to the side, gloved fingers wrapped around a black staff with steel wings on the end of it. It's raised in the air, its goal to smash in Nate's skull. She doesn't know why or how she knows it, she just does.
"No!" Minx dives in front of her brother, listening to the sound of her own skull crack against the winged end, the weapon lodging into her head like a puzzle finally coming into place.
Minx whips her head to the right, bashing it against a hard surface, hard enough to definitely leave a black and purple bruise. She curses under her breath, finding herself in the safety of her own bed. She sits up, her legs bundled up in the comforter, her pillows soaked in sweat.
"You okay?" Jade is sitting up in her own bed, leaning back on her hands. Moonlight cuts across her face from the window, her lips pouted.
"I had the strangest dream." Minx says breathlessly.
"Yeah, this place seems to do that." Jade murmurs, scratching the back of her head with her claws. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"No, I'm just gonna try going back to sleep." Minx tosses her pillows to the floor so she doesn't have to feel the sweat. She puts a hand to where she smacked her head against her bedside table, focusing until she heals the bruise completely, the throbbing coming to an end.
BONES
"I saw her." Bones is telling his sister in the cemetery the morning after Melody's funeral. He feels crazy, sounds crazy too. Death has never been something scary to him but seeing these deceased people in all the wrong ways is freaking him out. They're not trying to hurt him, simply trying to warn him. But what the hell is he supposed to do with this information? It's not like anyone can do anything about it. He's sure there is some spell that could help him but he doesn't even know where to look.
