MINX
Minx leads the others down the narrow hallway of mirrors.
"Help!" Nate calls out from somewhere in the maze.
"I wish Riley were here." Scarlet is breathless as she and Bandit race behind Minx, the three of them multiplying into thirds in the mirrors surrounding them. "She could tell us where the fuck Nate is."
"We're coming, Nate!" Minx assures, her brown locks spilling behind her as she darts around a corner into a new corridor.
"Haven't you been through this maze before?" Bandit demands, panting as she tries keeping up, rolling her eyes every new turn they make. "Shouldn't you know where he is?"
"It's different, different than before." Minx slows down when they reach a dead end, the mirror in front of them reflecting the three flushed faces in a line. "Son of a bitch--"
"Do you guys hear that?" Scarlet's brow furrows as she looks up at the blanket of black looming over them.
Minx holds her breath to listen closer. She does here it: the footsteps. The slow, but meaningful footsteps. They clack against the solid black floor, like the boot has a small heel attached to it. She takes a step closer to her reflection, the sound of footsteps more prominent as though they're on the other side, getting closer and closer and closer.
"I think it's coming from the other side of the mirror." Minx tells the others. "Nate? Can you hear--"
Before she can finish, her reflection's face shatters before her very eyes. Bandit and Scarlet's own reflections disappear as the shards of mirror clatters to the floor. Minx finds herself face-to-face with a plague doctor mask, two others standing behind their leader. All of them carry one of those canes with the winged top, stashed into their palms.
Minx screams as the figure in front of her bashes her face in with the end of his cane.
BANDIT
Bandit's eyes flash open from the swing of the cane connecting with her face. She heaves a sigh of relief when she finds herself in her bed, safely in her dorm room. She blinks the sleep from her eyes as she rolls onto her back, her neck aching with a kink in the side. She sits up, massaging the twist in her neck with her fingertips. She listens to the grunts of her roommate on the other side of the room. Her pink hair is slashed over her face as her head jerks from side to side. She yelps in her sleep, louder the second, and then loudest the third.
Bandit creeps over to her roommate's bedside, putting a gentle hand on her shoulder to give a shake. "Uh, are you okay?" Bandit can't remember the girl's name for the life of her, as she shakes her awake.
The girl's slanted eyes flicker open, widen at the sight of Bandit looming over her. Bandit finds herself thrown backwards by a force that can only be explained as good old telekinesis.
"What the actual fuck are you doing?" The girl sits up in bed after Bandit is an appropriate distance from her.
"You were having a dream, you weirdo." Bandit uses her own powers to tear the covers off the bitch. "I was just making sure you were okay."
"I'm fine."
Bandit watches her stranger of a roommate grab for her red comforters, pulling them up towards her chin so she can settle back down on her overstuffed pillows. Bandit can't help but ask. The nosy side of her has consumed her and she doesn't quite blame it. "What was your dream about?"
She scrunches her face at her, eyes squinted. "What?"
"I asked what your dream was about." Bandit feels paranoid. Maybe Ms. Carraway was wrong about what she told them about being the Seven Wonders. Maybe every student here at Quarta Luna has nightmares, ones that they can't stop having and ones where death is inevitable. "Did you eat diseased babies? Or were you buried alive? Did you see yourself as some weird demon that made you fall back into an empty space with floating--"
