The Silver Lion (On Hold)

Chapter 8

Darkness was all around me and it was as if I was in a space with no stars. I heard Haggar's voice from seemingly everywhere.

"Stop fighting the fact that no matter where you run, you can't hide. I will always find you." she cackled.

"Stop!" I screamed, clutching my head.

"You are going to help me bring Emperor Zarkon back to life and there's nothing you can do to stop me from taking control of you."

As soon as Haggar said those words, pain flew throughout my body. I screamed in absolute pain and darkness began to close in on me. It seemed as if I was breathing in smoke. I started coughing as it got harder to breath.

Just as I was about to give up, a blinding white light cast the darkness away. It filled my mind, body, and spirit. My eyes shot open and I gasped for air.

Familiar voices sighed in relief.

"Ugh....where am I?" I asked weakly.

"In the training room." Allura said and told me the details. Apparently after I passed out, Keith called for Allura to come to the training room and a dark aura formed around me, Allura came to the training room and did some crazy Altean magic stuff to push the darkness away, (pretty much saving me from becoming a slave to Haggar and helping her bring Zarkon back to life).

"Thanks Allura." I said. Keith helped me up and walked me to my room for some much needed rest.

"Hey Keith?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

I took a deep breath.

"Could you.... tell me how you found the red lion? At least.....until I fall asleep?" I whispered.

He looked surprised for a second. I don't know why I asked him how he found his lion, I just felt the need to know. Maybe it would help me figure out more about my lion and what role it had to play in Voltron.

"Well.....that was a while ago but....I guess I could tell you about it." Keith slightly blushed and smiled at me. Oh how his smile seemed to set my heart on fire.

He told me how he found his lion on a galra cruiser. The red lion wouldn't open its barrier for him cause he had to earn its respect. He got sucked out into space while fighting the galra droids.

That act of protection granted Keith the red lions trust and respect. They've been through thick and thin for each other ever since.

My eyelids felt like sandbags. I couldn't keep them open anymore.
My eyes closed and I thought that Keith would leave me to get some shut eye but I never heard him leave. Instead, I felt two warm, strong arms wrap around me, protecting me.

And for once, I felt safe as I slipped into slumber.
