walking with minho was more awkward than i expected.

everything about him was, i just couldnt stop thinking about mark.
the way he walks, acts, speaks.
it all reminded me of him and i wished that it wouldnt.

"hey jani you alright?" it was around five minutes since we all split up.

"uh yeah," i reply. "this maze makes me feel anxious."

"if it makes you feel better, im scared." i look at him beside me. he was looking at the sky, we couldnt see the crowd anymore but could still see the stadium lights.

"im sorry," i softly say. "you probably wouldnt be doing this if i just agreed to go with jinyoung."

"no never be sorry," he halts and i stop walking. he looks at me dead in the eye. "don't apologize, without you i wouldnt be alive, i wouldnt have met D8. i would rather live this life than none."

i nod my head.

"im serious jani."

"i know you are, its just that i forgot this kind of perspective."

"what do you mean?" i start walking again, initiating minho to follow along.

"jinyoung basically created you guys after us, if we actually agreed to do whatever he wanted you wouldnt be alive. i guess running away had a good outcome."

"in this situation, it always is."

almost thirty minutes has past and we havent stopped walking or bumped into anyone.

"hey mark, we should rest hm?" i say.

"...mark?" he looks at me a little stunned.

"oh my god!" he starts chuckling and i start apologizing.

"its okay!" he says. "i look like him so thats fair."

"yeah but you guys are two different people, im sorry minho."

"dont be!" he pats my shoulder. "and yes we should rest."

i sit down at a intersection of the maze with minho tiredly following.

suddenly we hear two canons fire.

"what the hell was that?" i yell. " i didnt know they still had canons."

"jani get up," minho says. "whatever it is it wont be good." he stands up and reaches for my hand. i hurriedly take it and stand up.

"GET AWAY FROM IT!"
"ITS HIDING IN THE HEDGES."

i clutch onto minho's arm and he looks at me worriedly.

"i thought it was just a fucking maze!" i exclaim.

"jani whats the plan." i look at him dumbfounded, was he asking me?

"what?" i yell. "i dont know what to do, i have no one to back me up minho!"

"i know but im here!" he replies. "you dont need supernatural friends to help, just tell me what to do!" i slowly process what he says.

hes right.
ive been depending on my friends so much that i forgot to solve problems without them.

"do you want to run or go help them?" i ask him.

he smiles at me.

"of course we're going to help them, c'mon i think i heard them this way." he starts taking off towards the yells and screams, i follow quickly behind him.

when we arrive to the scene, we see taejin, jongin, renjun, and jeno fighting off a monster thats was taller than the hedges.

"what the hell is that?" i scream. the monster looks at me and comes our way. minho takes my hand and quickly runs away from it and brings us towards the group of boys.

"are you two okay?" taejin asks. we both nod while catching our breath.

"when did jinyoung have the time
to do this?" jeno mumbles.

"beats me." jongin replies.

the monster roars and we jump in fear.

"we have to kill this thing!" renjun screams over it.

"that thing is twice our size!" minho screams back. 

just then, the monster is knocked off its feet and lands on its back. he stumbles to stand up and roars at us again.

jaemin was soon next to us, smiling.

"great you dumbass, you just made it mad!" jeno smacks the back of jaem's head and he says a small 'ouch'.

"can you and jaemin do your little duo action?" renjun suggests. "we dont have exactly have all day." just as they were about to attack, the monster screeches and we look over too see why its making that horrible sound.

it was in flames.

it runs around in circles before dropping dead, the flames leaving immediately. behind its dead body stood its killer.
he walks around the corpse and towards us. renjun and minho stands in front of me protectively.

"what the hell guys!" i whisper. instead of standing behind them, i shove my way infront of them and walk toward the figure.

"jani." renjun says but i ignore him and continue walking towards the boy. he stops right in front of me and looks at me.

"im sorry, i dont even know what to say-" i run up to him and give him a hug.

"its okay."

"mark said it was the only way."

mark?

"what the hell did you just say?" renjun walks up to us with jaemin and jeno shortly following.

"mark, he said that stabbing jani would end the game." renjun grabs him by the collar.

"renjun let him go." jeno and jaemin try to pry him off.

"mark is not our friend anymore!" he yells. "he screwed us over, hes the reason why we're here in the first place!"

we all freeze in our spots.
hyucks starts to cry, he crouches down and burries his head into his knees. i crouch next to him and rub his back to soothe him down.

"im sorry, im so stupid, im sorry i hurt you." he mumbles into his pants. the boys look down at us and i ask jaemin to take over.

"me and you," i point at renjun. "we need to talk." i drag him over to a spot away from the others.

"what?" renjun asks. i look at him and scoff.

"you need to calm down, you arent the one hurting renjun!" i say. "we all need to go at our own pace, hyuck's pace is slower so please keep it down."

"are you forgetting he stabbed you jani?" i softly pat my stomach.

"of course not renjun," i reply. "now if you excuse me." i go to walk back to the crowd but im stopped by hand pulling me back to where i was.

when i go to look who it is, it wasnt renjun. he was standing next to me, at a loss for words.

instead it was no one other than mark. he looked furious and i could feel his anger radiating off his skin.

"you were supposed to die." he growls.

renjun goes to reach out for me but mark shoots him a glance.

"you need to die, jani."
